Hello!

It’s been seven weeks since hitmaker Ed Sheeran revealed he and wife Cherry Seaborn had welcomed a second daughter, but her name has been kept under wraps – until now.

According to The Sun, Ed and Cherry’s second daughter is named Jupiter. She’s a little sister for their first daughter, Lyra, who’ll be turning two in September.

The couple announced the birth of baby Jupiter in May, sharing a snap of baby booties with the caption, “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4.”

According to Nameberry, Jupiter can be used as a girl’s and boy’s name, and means ‘godfather’. While Baby Names explains the gender-neutral name is of Latin origin and means Father Zeus.

The notoriously private couple managed to keep their first pregnancy out of the public eye until just two weeks before her birth, helped in part by lockdowns.

Ed is currently in the middle of a worldwide tour, promoting his latest album, Equals.

  • Nice name. Good work keeping it private. Sometimes it’s nice to keep things to yourself.

  • Congratulations to the Sheeran family on the safe birth of their little daughter. Jupiter isn’t a name I would have chosen but it’s still much better than other names I’ve heard. I myself prefer older names. Doesn’t matter what I think though because it’s not my child. She’ll probably love the name and that’s all that matters.

  • Congratulations to the Sheeran Family. I love the name, it’s sweet! I don’t think it matters what the meaning is, it’s not like you tell people the meaning of your name when you introduce yourself.

  • Not my cup of tea and I wouldn’t say it’s gender neutral either being that it means godFATHER or FATHER Zeus.

  • Congratulations on your second child. I do hope you never decide to live here in Australia, the thought of the way your daughter’s name would be shortened just doesn’t bear going there! Best of luck on your tour and may all of you stay safe and sound.

  • What strange meanings to the name. I just associated it with the planet… or a sailor scout (for those who are Sailor Moon fans) lol.

  • Certainly not a popular name but not a completely unusual strange spell one either.
