What’s the difference between a heated throw and an electric blanket?

A heated throw is essentially a blanket that has a plug and heating elements so it gets warm and toasty. It’s transportable anywhere you have a plug in the house. An electric blanket is like a fitted sheet, that attaches to your bed, underneath your sheets. It also heats up, but it is only designed to be used while fitted onto a bed.

Are heated throw blankets safe?

Most heated throws have safety features that prevent them from overheating, and also automatically turn off after a period of time. Every type of electric blanket sold in Australia has to comply with our strict safety standards. But you should always read the safety instructions and make sure you use the blanket in the correct way.

Can you sleep with a heated throw?

While they are super cosy and comfortable, heated throws are not recommended for use all night. They may overheat if not used in the correct way, and even with their built-in safety features, it’s best to err on the side of caution and stick to using a fitted electric blanket on the bed.
