I hate cleaning my oven, mainly due to the awful and very strong smell of the oven cleaners you buy at the shops. There is a solution though! Did you know that you can get your oven sparkling without the nasty chemicals?

How to clean your oven naturally

What you’ll need:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar

Method:

  1. Mix some baking soda with a little water to make a paste and spread all over the oven.
  2. Leave overnight.
  3. The next day, spray white vinegar all over the oven which will make the baking soda fizz.
  4. Close the door and leave for a couple of hours.
  5. Scrub in circular motions to remove grime.
  6. Rinse cloth and repeat until all the baking soda is removed.
  7. If your oven is extremely dirty, you may need to repeat the process.

  • Looks like a pretty easy solution to chemical free oven cleaning if it works. I personally just use my enjo cloth and water to clean my oven and just about everything else.

  • Wow, I’m definitely going to try this. Cleaning the oven is probably the most hated job in our house. As a result, I don’t do it. I hate the smell and the toxic chemicals/spray and face mask needed. It just doesn’t seem right. I’m at the point of paying someone to do it. Yep, really. But, I’m definitely giving this a go first.

  • I’ve seen a few ideas about cleaning your oven without chemicals but this is by far the best and, dare I say, easiest I have seen. Will definitely be trying this on my next day off.

  • Has anyone tried this on the elements themself ? Does it help to remove the fats build up on them ?
I have had to avoid heavy chemical like cleaning products as they trigger my asthma really bad.

  • if you have really hard spots, is it best to keep on trying this method or is that time for something harsher.? would salt be a good abrasive or would it scratch?

  • Thanks Jessica, I love the sound of this. I usually put off oven cleaning for way too long because I hate the chemical fumes. Thanks too for the hint of using old stockings. Will give this a go!
