Make your guests feel instantly at home with these five easy tips for creating a beautiful guest room.

When it comes to making guests feel welcomed into your home, nothing beats a beautiful guest room. From an overnight stay to a couple of weeks break, creating a home away from home in your guest room will ensure that your visitors will be looking forward to their next visit. Check out these five beautiful things you can do this weekend to make your house guests #FeelGreatAtHome in the space you’ve created!

1) Choose The Right Scent

Candles, diffusers, and oil burners are great ways to add an extra layer of warmth and cosiness to a guest room, but it’s important to choose a fragrance that isn’t too overpowering. Subtle, light scents, such as fig, citrus, and jasmine, will keep your guest room smelling fresh and clean while creating a calming atmosphere for your guests to relax in. It’s always a nice idea to have a few candles on display so that your guests can select the one that most appeals to them to use during their stay.

2) Freshen Things Up

If your guest room hasn’t been used in a while, you’ll probably find that some dust has settled and your surfaces are not looking as guest-ready as you’d like them to be. A fresh space won’t go unnoticed and your guests will appreciate that you’ve gone to that bit of extra effort to make them #FeelGreatAtHome. The Vileda Microfibre Cloths are the perfect choice when it comes to tackling dust and dirt, available in a convenient and colourful pack of eight. The cloths’ high-quality microfibre construction provides superior absorbency without the need for harsh chemicals and just a quick once over of your guest room surfaces will leave the space looking its best! We particularly love that they can be used wet or dry and are washing machine friendly so you can refresh them to use again and again.

3) Let The Light In

Natural light is a great way to make your guest space feel instantly warmer and more inviting, but not every room has the luxury of sunlight all day long. Ensuring that you have a range of different lighting options, such as lamps and lights with dimmer switches, will mean that your guests can adjust the light to suit their needs and mimic the warming effects of that perfect evening sun. While letting the natural light in as much as possible is a must, it’s also a good idea to add a good quality blind to any windows in your guest room to reduce unwanted early mornings! If you have the budget, some heavy curtains in a rich colour also do wonders in elevating a space.

4) Don’t Forget The Floor

When creating a beautiful guest room, so often the focus is on the furnishings and fragrance that we forget to look down and deal with the biggest culprit when it comes to dirt and grime; the floor! We love the look of a hardwood floor in a bedroom, but it’s important to choose the right mop to keep it clean and shiny. The Vileda Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop  is great for mopping all hard floor surfaces including delicate wood, tiles and laminate. No need to manually rotate and wring your mop with hands after rinsing – the 360° spin system does the hard work for you! The rotating 360° joint of the floor mop also makes it easier to clean hard to reach areas of your bathroom and will remove over 99% of all bacteria with just water*, without the need for harsh chemicals.

When it comes time to refresh your mop, there’s no need to purchase a new one; Vileda has mop head refills so you can easily keep some on hand ready to get your guest room ready at short notice!

5) It’s The Little Things

Once you’ve sorted the colour palette for your guest room, and are happy with the furniture and layout, it’s time to think about the little touches that can make the space feel extra special. Adding throws, extra cushions, and a soft rug can soften the overall look and feel of your guest room, and thoughtful extras like a good-sized mirror or plush towels will make guests #FeelGreatAtHome in no time.

  • The scent you smell when you first walk in. That is my top tip. Invest in good quality candles (hand made/local if you can) it changes the whole vibe.
Also lighting. Heavy curtains to help block at the light but can also be pulled back by those that aren’t bothered by morning light

  • Who has the luxury of a guest room ?! sadly not me, but the tips equally apply for making your own room attractive i guess. I’m in a 3 bedroom house with 3 kids and can confidently say that short of a lottery win, there will never be sufficient space for the permanent guests, ahem, kids, never mind real guests!
