I hate cleaning the toilet and I also hate the smell of all the chemical filled toilet cleaners, they are too strong.

There is a natural way to clean your toilet and get it sparkling, without all the nasty chemicals. Make your own toilet cleaning bombs!

DIY toilet cleaning bombs

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup of citric acid
  • 1 1/2 cups of baking soda
  • 30 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 30 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 30 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • water
  • ice cube trays

Method:

  1. Combine the citric acid and the baking soda in a bowl.
  2. Add your oils while whisking.
  3. Add a small amount of water at a time using a spray bottle until mixture clumps together like playdough.
  4. Press mixture into ice cube trays (this quantity will fill 3 to 4 trays)
  5. After 30 minutes, scrape off excess mixture that has risen and fill more trays with it.
  6. Leave them overnight to set.
  7. Pop them out of trays and store in an airtight container.
  8. To clean your toilet, pop two in the bowl and leave to fizz for 30 minutes. Now simply scrub the bowl and flush.

I am going to make some of these; they are the perfect solution for natural toilet cleaning.

  • Having a grey water system I love the sound of this! I will be trying them asap, anything to get away from chemicals. I don’t like using them and I dont like them going out on my lawn. Plus I dont need to worry about my son near them.

  • Does anybody know if this works on toilets that use only “recycled” water that is connected by purple pipes??. The water in the cistern is sometimes brown. I have actually taken the lid off the cistern and watched it refilling when the toilet has been flushed. It obviously isn’t filtered as much as is boasted by the “professionals”. I am allergic to the smell of lavender too.
