Making your own soap is easy and this recipe sounds amazing, I’ll definitely be making some.

Soap

What you’ll need:

  • 500g of glycerin soap base
  • A handful of walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon of an essential oil of your choice (almond essential oil works well)
  • 50ml of argan oil
  • Silicone mould

Method:

  1. Crush the walnuts into a coarse powder.
  2. Cut the glycerin into small pieces and melt in a saucepan over a larger saucepan of boiling water.
  3. Once the glycerin has completely melted, add the argan oil and nuts and stir thoroughly.
  4. Take the pan off the heat and add the essential oil then stir.
  5. Add the mix to a silicone mould and leave for three hours to set.
  6. Remove the soap from the mould and your soap is ready to use.

This recipe sounds so easy and I bet it smells amazing. It would make a perfect gift too, I’m going to make some for my Mum’s birthday next month.

  • The hardest part about this is getting the soap out of the moulds.

  • I have tried to make my own soap but it didn’t turn out well. May have to give it another shot using these instructions.

  • I’ve never made my own soap. Whilst it may seem simple enough, I think I’ll stick with buying it from the store.

  • I have not made my own soap as yet but this looks like a good easy recipe and I think it would be good also to use after you had been working in the garden to get your hands scrubbed clean and softened as well.

  • Provided there’s no type of sodium or soda in the glycerin base this is an excellent soap. Some commerically made soaps contain or used to contain caustic soda which can cause nasty side effects, exspecially if you have sensitive skin.

  • I’ve never made my own soap, but I’m very much looking forward to trying. I have been looking into buying a soap making and candle making kit, but looks like it doesn’t have to be as expensive to give it a go.

  • My husband makes his own goat’s milk soap as the one he used to buy is no longer being sold and the others don’t work for his skin problems. He doesn’t use glycerine, but olive oil and 4 other oils plus the goats milk.
It works for him and a batch lasts him about 4 to 5 months.

    • That sounds interesting !! Would your husband be willing to share his recipe ?
