Cara Combs from Missouri, found out she had Stage 4 Melanoma when she was 23 weeks pregnant. Doctors advised her to have her baby immediately, but she chose to wait, giving her child a better chance at survival, and postponing her cancer treatment.
“I wanted to let everyone know that we lost Cara Walters Combs this morning. I don’t have to tell you how great of a person she was. She will be missed by all. I always knew she was destined for greater things. We all have a perfect angel looking over us. She was the strongest person I ever met and the best wife and mother. She sacrificed everything so her legacy could live on. Thank you all for your support and prayers. She was my everything and always will be.” Her husband, Roy, wrote on a GoFundMe page for the family.
Cara gave birth to Shaylin Combs on Dec. 5. Three days later, she lost her fight.
“Heaven gained a new angel this morning. Cara was an amazing wife, mother, daughter and sister,” a friend wrote. “She sacrificed everything so her new little one could live on.”
“Cara ended up needing a liver transplant, but because of her cancer, she was not a candidate. Her giving baby Shaylin a chance at life, was the MOST SELFLESS thing she could have done,” she wrote.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to Cara’s family.
