A couple received an anonymous letter from someone who thinks they’re harming their children by living in an apartment near the beach.

Kelly Bruning, shares how she felt when she got the note, “My initial reaction was just shock. It was just a bunch of emotions all at once.” And now she and her husband, a civil engineer, can’t help but feel paranoid. “I’m wondering whose eyes are on me,” said Brüning. “It’s a scary and strange feeling to go through.”

The letter chastised the couple for not providing enough space for their kids. “Because you like the beach your kids are trapped in a tiny one bedroom upstairs apartment,” the letter reads. Kids need a yard to play in. A swingset or a trike to ride when they want to, not when it’s convenient for you…”

People seriously need to learn to mind their own business.

  • Isn’t that a very narrow-minded one straight-minded comment?
My sisters and I grew up in more than one place during our childhood from a big house with huge front garden and back yard in the country side to a 3-bedroom apartment in a busy city in Asia, we were happy and there’s nothing wrong about how my parents brought us up.

  • It it was me I would be concerned about the morals of the person who obviously knows where they live and their lifestyle. I know one family who do this because of regular employment transfers. Possibly this family have places they regularly visit that the children can safely play as they wish. They may make a lot more effort to visit the childrens grandparents, relatives and friends a lot more than families who live in houses. Thje parents possibly spend more quality time with their children outdoors when the weather is suitable because they don’t have big gardens and yards to maintain.

  • Oh my goodness, how bad is that ?! Shame on the writer of this opinionated letter !
These kids have indeed a whole beach where they can play.

  • The boys have a whole beach to play on with their parents – shame on whoever wrote the letter.

  • The size of a house or yard doesn’t determine happy children. Being loved, cared for and having wonderful relationships with their basic needs met is more important than having a yard attached to their home.

  • Why are some people so pre-occupied with other peoples lives and business. The person who wrote this note is callous and nasty. It is none of their business and without knowing the parents circumstances and how they come by living in a one apartment dwelling has to be taken into consideration. Obviously they are a happy family and were doing okay right up until this person lodged their vicious assault at them. To the person who wrote the note, if you felt that strong about the families situation why could you not have befriended them and shown kindness to them and their children instead of feeling that it was your right and necessity to shame the parents and humiliate the whole family. Go get a life you misguided, self righteous nosy parker, or maybe you should be renamed Esmay Watson the aged woman who was always sticking her nose in other people’s business. What you did is just crass and unacceptable. What a cheap trick.

  • I’ve always grown up with a good size backyard and can’t stand the small nearly no yard houses. If this family are happy though them that’s their business

  • The only attention a letter like this deserves is a quick trip to the closest bin!

  • It’s up to each individual family the way they live. What about in 3rd world countries where grandparents, immediate family and extended family live in a one bedroom home? These families can’t afford to live anywhere else but a lot of them have happy childhoods!

  • This couple has 2 chîldren? In a 1 bedroom àpartment? That is a small space. You would hope they have plans to move to a bigger płace soon. Yes, there’s are parks and playgrounds and the beach and public pools etc, but you can’t beat a backyard, just open your back door and let them go for it.

  • Children can play at the beach, at playgrounds, in parks, in school yards etc. You don’t need a backyard to have a fulfilling childhood.

  • there are these places scattered all over the place now called playgrounds, one can take their children there to run and jump and swing! I have a back yard that barely gets used but we do walk around the corner to the playground!

  • It is no business of any-one to tell the parents where to live and in an apartment or house.
