This recipe is a gem for busy new-mums who can easily forget to eat breakfast. Freeze in small containers and you have enough to last the week.

Ingredients (serves 12 | makes 6 small take-away container )

  • 1/2 cup Millet
  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 3 cups Oats
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds
  • 10-15 Pitted Prunes
  • 1/2 cup Currants
  • 1/2 cup Goji berries
  • 4 tbsp Maca
  • 1/3 cup Rapadura Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 8 cups Filtered water

Method

  1. Rinse quinoa and millet thoroughly with cold water.
  2. Add quinoa, millet, oats and chia seeds to a large saucepan. Add water and simmer for 10 min on medium heat.
  3. Add all other ingredients and turn to low heat. Add more water if necessary. You’re looking for a sloppy consistency.

  • Love it! I’ve been enjoying porridge more recently. Will save this for later

  • I made this as a big batch so we didn’t have to rush around in the mornings. I make a big batch up every night and can sleep well knowing breakfast is done for everyone

  • I’m just not a porridge fan. I don’t know if I’m triggered from my childhood, but I try. I really do. I’ve tried the sachets, so they’re quick and easy to use. They’re just not my go-to.

  • Quite a few ingredients I’ve not heard of, or heard of and never used. Personally I’d never make a big batch of porridge and freeze – would take just as long to reheat from freezing than just cooking up some quick Oats in the microwave and adding berries to it.

  • I’m not a mad porridge fan so opt for the quick and easy sachets. So many ingredients here I’ve never heard of and would not know where to buy.

  • Interesting never would of thought of adding quinoa to porridge. Will have to try that. Porridge is such a lovely heartwarming breakfast in Winter and I love how healthy this one is!
