These yummy yum balls are high in protein and are not made of biscuits which is why I call them yum balls with a twist.

Ingredients (makes 14 Balls)

  • 1 cup Gramflour powder
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Half cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Boiling water

  1. Add ghee in a wok. Add the gramflour to it and keep roasting on Sim, till it becomes golden brown. Be careful not to burn it.
  2. Add sugar and keep mixing.
  3. Add water little at a time and keep mixing in oner direction till the consistency becomes smooth and not very thick and not runny.
  4. Taste to see if sugar is adequate. Add more if need be. Turn off gas.
  5. Let it cool down and then use palm of hands to roll into balls.

I always make these yum balls for Christmas. It's become a tradition now..

  • If I ever find gram flour I’ll give this a whirl, I like that the sugar is added to taste because I normally find things too sweet

  • Ohhhhh these look interesting. Ahh but what is gramflour ?

  • I just googled gram flour as I’ve never heard of it before.
Will have to see if any of the supermarkets near me stock it so I can try this recipe.

  • this sounds like an indian style sweet

  • These look good wonder if coconut will taste nice also on them

  • An interesting recipe – not sure it appeals to me though ….

  • I have no idea what gram flour is, but these don’t look nice at all! Gram flour, sugar, fat and water……not nice at all. Sorry

  • Lovely to share with family and friends! Thanks!

  • interesting recipe – I think I would have to taste test one before committing to making them though

  • Great that someone let us know that Gramflour powder was made from Chickpeas. The rest of the ingredients would be OK in my household, but I would have to check out the potassium and phosphorus content of chickpea flour. Most grains and legumes are very high in potassium which is wonderful for most people but not for any one on dialysis. This could be a new tradition instead of gingerbread rolls or many of the Greek pastries which are so high in carbs and sugars. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

  • I have never heard of gramflour before, is it easy to find?

  • Mmmmm….Not sure about these.

  • KOoooooo they look easy to make

  • what’s ghee?

  • A different variation on Christmas balls.
