Quick, easy and very moorish buttercream icing. This is just as brilliant for decorating kids’ birthday cakes as it is for finishing off grown-up treats. The imagination is the limit with what you can do.

Ingredients (serves 12)

  • 3 cups Icing sugar
  • 1 cup Soft butter
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Flavouring - vanilla

Method

  1. Whisk butter for approximately 5 minutes until light and fluffy. The colour should become much lighter too.
  2. Slowly add in icing sugar and whisk for again approximately 5 minutes. Taste a small amount to feel for a smooth texture.
  3. Add in your flavouring of choice, whisk until combined, and use however you choose! Warning - very moorish!

  • So easy!
For some reason I thought there would be a lot more ingredients in this type of icing.

  • Good for cake decorating, but I have to say I’ve never really liked the flavour of butter icing. And there’s usually a lot of it on a cupcake
