Fruit cobbler, which is a dessert of fruit, usually tinned, with a cake like top.

Ingredients (serves 6)

  • 1 large Tin of fruit
  • 1 cup Flour
  • Half a cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk

Method

  1. Turn oven onto 180 degrees, 160 degrees if your oven is fan forced
  2. Grease your dish and place drained tinned fruit in the dish.
  3. Mix dry ingredients and add milk, whisking until most of the lumps are out of the mix.
  4. Cook until skewer comes out clean but it should be about 30 - 40 minutes.

Notes

The versatility of this recipe is that you can add any fruit that you want. Even fresh fruit is good. Great if you have a glut of fruit. Recipe is easy to double, or even halve. Keeps well in the fridge for a second day if all is not eaten the first night, but it is best eaten when cooked.

  • Fruit cobblers are such comfort food particularly during the cooler months.

    • I need cobblers served with lashings of cream, custard or vanilla bean ice cream.

  • This looked like one of those self saucing puddings. So easy though. I can imagine doing this with a can of baked apple. My hubby will love it!
