Turmeric milk, or golden milk, is not only a very comforting drink but it is high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, manganese and iron. I make this instead of hot chocolate.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 2 cups almond milk (or milk of your choice)
  • 1 tabs honey
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 tsp ground cinnamon)
  • small pinch of black pepper and grated fresh ginger

  1. Pour all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a light boil.
  2. Whisk to combine then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 mins.
  3. Strain the milk if you have large pieces of ginger and cinnamon.
  4. Serve up and enjoy warm!

You could also add 2-3 whole cardamom pods while boiling or add vanilla extract to taste as a variation on the above.

  • Because of some medical problems I’m not sure if I can have tumeric or not. I would add vanilla essence – that is a great suggestion

  • Our local coffee shop has started selling these

  • I would love to try this, thanks.

  • I too have heard great things about Tumeric..my mum takes it for inflammation.

  • I already add turmeric to my morning drink of lemon and ginger. This looks tastey too, might try for a change

  • You could substitute rice malt syrup instead of honey re: heating issues.

  • Thank you for this, it is a very enjoyable drink. Added my honey when cooled as the honey we have can not be heated too much.

  • This drink looks golden and good – thanks.

  • A beautiful drink ! I always add the honey after I boiled and cooled down the mixture to 40 C (cause heating honey is not a healthy practice).
