Who ever knew vanilla essence was so easily made?!

Ingredients

  • 500mL Vodka (any brand)
  • 20 vanilla bean sticks

Method

  1. Slice the vanilla sticks open, place them into the vodka bottle and walk away.
  2. Shake gently once a day and you'll have vanilla essence in 2 months :)

Notes

I bought my vanilla beans on ebay and use some leftover vodka. Good quality vanilla essence can be fairly pricey. Using homemade gives you a larger batch for a better price!

  • Well there you go. I had no clue how to make vanilla essence

  • Wow! Honestly never knew vodka would be in a recipe for making vanilla essence but this is good to know.
How long is the shelf life of something like this with it being 500ml?
