A deliciously rich chocolate dessert smothered in delectable caramel sauce.


Ingredients (serves 12)

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 60g dark chocolate, grated
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • CARAMEL SAUCE
  • 2 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 cups Cream

Method

  1. Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl until pale and creamy, add the egg yolks one at a time. Add dry ingediants and add the chocolate and yogurt. Beat the egg whites until until white peaks form, using a spatula fold them into the batter
  2. Spoon the batter into a prepared friand tin and cook at 180 for 40 - 50 minutes, cool cake in pan for 15 minutes before turnung out to cool. Too prepare caramel sauce place brown sugar and cream in saucepan until combined simmer for 10-15 minutes than turn off heat.
  3. To serve pour hot sauce over cake add dollop of cream and enjoy.
