Pouches are great for when you’re out and about as they are a hit of fruit and or veg without the mess or the fuss. It’s so easy to make them yourself – the beetroot is a great sweetener and provides a serve of veg for the day – plus it makes the fruit a really cool bright pink colour!

Ingredients (serves 1 | makes 6 pouches)

  • 1 beetroot
  • 2 green apples
  • 2 pears
  • 1 brocolli stem

  1. Dice up the fruit and veg.
  2. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Blitz it all up with a stick blender or power blender and funnel into your reusable pouches. They will keep in the freezer for a good month.

You can buy reusable pouches online cheaply and they usually deliver quickly. I've had mine for over a year and they are still going strong!

  • Love it. Great way to get a mix of veggies in there.

  • Great for make ahead meals

  • So easy to do and good to know baby is eating super healthy things.

  • Oh wow, I didn’t even know you could buy these pouches! What a brilliant product, I’m going to buy myself some asap

  • Brilliant idea for kids meal for traveling

  • Great idea for kids meal during travel

  • It’s s great idea using broccoli stems and not the flower section at all. The flower has a much stronger flavour and spoil the flavour of the fruit. Beetroot is powerful enough but adds more vegetable. I would be tempted to use carrot or sweet potato instead of beetroot.

  • A really good easy idea that I like. Thank you.

  • Brilliant and great on the go!

  • Such a great idea, lot of work but good idea!

  • I did this for both of my children when they were on mush foods. I figured that I could make much better food than what was in packet food and it’ll be a lot more cost effective

  • Wow imagine all the money you’ll save by making your own

  • What a healthy economic way to make kids food

  • Great idea. Cheaper than store bought and healthier

  • this is such a good recipe, I have found it hard to find the right ratios for veg and fruit but I shall give another go
