Perfect steak cooked on non stick non toxic cast iron.
Ingredients (serves 2)
- 1 good quality thick steak
- 1 cast iron pan
- Preheat your oven to at least 205 degrees C. Pat dry the steak with a paper towel then rub it all over with oil (use oil with a high smoke point, not olive oil) and sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper.
- Pre-heat your cast iron pan on the stove on medium heat. Get it smoking hot then drop in your steak and cook it for exactly 2 minutes before turning it over and cooking for two minutes on the other side. Then put the pan in the oven for a few minutes depending on how well done you like your steak.
- Carefully remove hot pan from oven using an oven mitt or towel, and transfer steak to another platter and let rest covered with aluminum foil.
