Great teething food for babies and snacks for adults!

  • 2 kg Sweet potato (washed thoroughly and leave skin on)

  1. Slice sweet potato thinly. About the size of french fries.
  2. Steam sweet potato until soft. Do this in batches if you have a small steamer.
  3. Place the soft sweet potato under sun for about 3.5 hours. Preferably at noon when it is the hottest. Make sure the potatoes are spread out and not stacked on top of each other so they dry quickly.

I make this for my baby to chew when she is teething. It is super good for gnawing and great for snacking for people with sweet tooth as this is very sweet and yummy.

  • They don’t look too good in the pic. We don’t get enough sun to do it this way. Easier to thinly slice and pop in the oven for a few hours on a low temp. Even better is if you get a dehydrater

  • A lot of time and effort in this one.

  • Great idea. Healthy and tasty. A winner. Thanks.

  • These would be fantastic if they worked out thanks for sharing

  • Thank you for this. Was wondering if I could do this in the dehydrator and get the same effect?

  • Obviously a summer deal. And I doubt the sun in Tas would get anywhere near hot enough to do this is 3.5 hours. Maybe a slow temp in the oven instead

  • And don’t forget to cover with something to keep away the flies and ants and any other creepy crawlies

  • An interesting recipe; thanks for sharing!.

  • I suppose you could put them on trays in a very low oven for a few hours too?

  • This is interesting recipe! Thank you for sharing this!

  • My family loves sweet potato.

  • This could be a project for the summer

  • Great idea, very creative and handy in lunch boxes too

  • Very nice – Thanks so much for sharing

  • this would be a great treat for on the go
