  • Enviro Friendly

    We just purchased our first home and it has a septic tank. I am used to these tanks from my parents house, but never really had to look at the products I used too closely as I never did the buying of environmentally friendly cleaning products.

    I was so happy to be selected and have loved the results. I wasn't sure I would get the same performance as the full chemical products, but I got those results and more.

  • It’s good for you and good for the earth.

    Since having my little babe I have been far more conscious about the products I use in our home. We have been using the eco store laundry and kitchen range for some time now and have been so impressed by these plant based products. They clean so well and are not exposing us to harsh chemicals that are found in most cleaning products. We love the eco store range and will continue using all these products because we know that they’re not only safe for us but safe for our planet.

  • Cleaned of sticky, burnt on honey soy!

    The dishwashing liquid works wonders! While I do have a dishwasher, some things just either don't fit or can't go in it. I used the ecostore dishwashing liquid and it worked a treat. In particular last night when I had a pan covered in sticky honey soy. It came of easily. I'll definitely use these products again. I'm always on the lookout for new natural products and these are great

  • Planet friendly & does the job!

    We used the Ecostore dishwashing liquid to clean the dishes, oven and other kitchen appliances. Very impressed with the cleaning and discovered that a little goes a long way. Also I feel better letting my little ones do the dishes knowing that Ecostore is safe for sensitive skin, particularly with the harsh winter weather.

    Certainly a brand I will be buying once my trial products finish.

  • The Liquid is ‘toddler-loves-mess proof’

    The Dishwashing liquid had already made its way into a permanent fixture on my shopping list and today it further cemented it.

    I left the liquid on the sink (not thinking) and came back to find it missing and my toddler pouring it in the bathtub to ‘make a bubbLe bath’. Lucky for me by using the liquid it doesn’t get overly bubbles and was an absolute dream to clean it all out of the bath! No excess of bubbles forming like when you use bubble bath!

    Also my bathtub now smells lovely from it!

    Not your typical review but when you have a mischievous bubble bath obsessed tot, this is definitely a useful thing to learn.

  • A clean home without all the nasties!

    The dishwashing liquid was amazing, such a clean citrus scent and left my dishes spotless, almost made doing the dishes enjoyable watching how sparkling everything was coming out! The bubbles stayed for almost 30 minutes later as I had to leave the dishes to feed a baby which has never happened before so another huge win!

  • Eco store Eucalyptus Laundry Liquid did a great job on our families clothes!

    I am a mum of 3 little rascals that love to play in the dirt! However they are fussy with the smell of the laundry liquid! Ecostore Eucalyptus Laundry Liquid ticked all my boxes as it was FABULOUS on the dirty clothes & stain removal & smelt SO lovely! I highly recommend this laundry liquid!

  • The bottle says it all...

    I'm no scientist but I know it's important to make positive choices for our future, our planet's future. This product promises "no nasties", which sparks the thought, what have I been using in the past? There is a lot of information on the bottle, including "All detergents have an effect on the environment." I feel this is a very honest statement and leads me to trust this company, their intentions to look after the environment seem genuine, even the packaging is raw snd honest. If you can't find it easily on your supermarket shelf (I had a little trouble) it may not be at eye level. I had never tried this range before the review but I'll be sure to look for it next time I need to restock!

  • Fantastic laundry liquid

    The Ecostore Laundry Liquid was easy to locate on the shelf at my local Woolies with its distinctive minimalist packaging.

    The liquid has a fresh Eucalyptus scent. I love that it’s phosphate and optical brightener free so that my clothes don’t wear out so quickly and the grey water is safe for garden use.

    I found that it removes stains better than other eco laundry liquids I’ve used.

  • Not my favourite

    These products weren't really great for us. I felt good knowing that they were safer for my family and the environment and I really wanted to like them but I just didn't really like them. I found that the laundry products just weren't strong enough to properly clean our clothes. My partner has a messy job and our clothes are usually very smelly at the end of the day. I just found that they didn't smell fresh after washing. I also found the kitchen products not to my liking as I prefer the house to smell clean and fresh after cleaning and these products just don't have a strong fragrance. My mum loves them though as she is very sensitive to fragrances.

  • Wow! Just love it

    My kids have sensitive skin and this little gem has stopped them itching & scratching when putting their clean clothes on . The bottle looks beautiful In my laundry to. The only downfall..I would love the bottle to be bigger. We are a family of 6 and the washing machine is operating daily

  • Great products

    The ecostore products are fantastic. They clean really well, and an added bonus is they are good for the environment. They come in really nice packaging so I don’t mind them being left out in the kitchen. I use the laundry products for my children’s clothing, and it’s gentle on their skin and smells fantastic. I find it a little more on the expensive side, but every time they are on sale at Woolworths I stock up. Once you start using this product it’s hard to swap to anything else!

  • Great multi purpose cleaner

    We have been pleasantly surprised by the multipurpose cleaning spray. It had worked wonders on common surfaces to leave a nice fresh space. With children around I appreciate the non-harsh nature of ecostore. And also with a septic we are only meant to put more natural products down our sink so It helps using eco friendly products.

  • Rebuy and reccommend ecostore

    Received these as we were leaving to go to a Resort holiday. Came home with all our holiday washing and having to cook and clean for ourselves. My ecostore products were sitting on the bench waiting so it was a good time to try and trial, Used both products with delightfully unexpected results. Clothes were spotlessly clean and fresh smelling and all cooking and eating implements sparkling and drying as placed on rack, I will definitely buy these products again and recommend them to others

  • Environmentally Friendly Cleaning

    I am really liking the Antibacterial Multi-purpose Cleaner!

    It has a natural Citrus scent and effectively cleans all surfaces.

    This is an amazing range, it's gentle on my skin when we use it and I can trust it is better for the environment and better for us.

    The dishwashing liquid is gentle on my skin and it does it's job with my dishes. The dishes are squeaky clean.

    I would like to thank Mouths of Mums for selecting me to be a reviewer of this product.

    And I apologise for a delay in this review as life, family, and illness unexpectedly got in the road. I mean, they’re always there, but not usually as jumbled up as it became. :-D I won’t go into details here, as not useful to the review, but if anyone ever wants to hire me to write freelance articles on raising three neuro diverse kids, while being neuro diverse yourself, also juggling chronic nerve pain and Adenomyosis … THEN I can go into detail. ;-)

    Back to the review!

    Because I’m posting it not just on their website, but on my own, I will go with my usual open and honest ways. So will start by saying that although I’ve been buying and using the Ecostore brand for a couple of years now, this was the first time I had bought and used the dish liquid.

    As mentioned in my review of the Ecostore laundry liquid I love the Ecostore brand, as there’s the “no nasties” – so no sulphates, optical brighteners, fake scents, and all that gunk. Not containing these ingredients is important to my family for a few reasons. Firstly, as we are doing our best to be environmentally sustainable so try and choose products that are only plant based, natural, and not containing any nasties (including ones that can be listed as “natural).

    So I won’t rave on about how amazing the whole Ecostore brand is again in this review, instead I will just focus on the dish liquid. And I have to say it is well worth buying.

    My family eat a lot of whole foods either slow cooked or roasted… so get baked on grime on our trays and pans. Add to that we love turmeric, tomato, and other foods great at leaving stains so we need a dish liquid that is not only good at removing grime and stains, but doing so in “no nasties” way. Guess what? Ecostore dish liquid for the win! :-)

    And, better yet, the dish liquid does it with minimal fuss, scrubbing or time wasting. I mean, yes, to wash things you often need to soak them first and apply a bit of elbow grease – along with the dish liquid – but with Ecostore dish liquid you don’t need to apply a LOT of soaking, nor elbow grease to get a clean and shiny result.

    None of us want to spend hours in the kitchen, or spend seconds with a chemical nasty liquid you need gloves to use… so it was great to see Ecostore dish liquid so efficient in cleaning. No fuss, no froth, job done.

    One thing I do want to point out (after mentioning no froth) is that there is minimal excess of bubbles with Ecostore dish liquid. Meaning you don’t need to see a sink that consists of a little water and a tonne of bubbles to know it is cleaning your dishes. I, personally, hate over frothy dish liquids, so am glad of minimal froth.

    BUT! Do you know what makes the froth in detergents? Most common ingredient is palm oil. Yes, a modern day swear word in a lot of eco-friendly circles. And Ecostore dish liquid does indeed contain palm oil.

    HOWEVER – please keep reading – Ecostore is following the very valuable path of certified sustainable palm oil. They are open and honest about this and, in all honesty, certified sustainable palm oil is a much more ethically friendly way to palm oil than to ban it all together. I won’t turn this into a palm oil debate… but yes, the dish liquid contains it… your choice as to whether you now buy it. Me? I would, based on my research into certified sustainable palm oil.

    Okay… so it cleans, it does it without too much fuss or elbow grease, it isn’t all bubble and no clean, and it contains palm oil. What else?

    Well, thanks to the “no nasty” chemicals, there’s no tinny/ chemical taste to your dishes! I know this sounds odd, but your dish cleaning products do leave chemical residue on your plates, cups, and flatware, which you can then taste. Well, I know I can. I can also taste it when you use vinegar as your rinse aid, so maybe I am just weird. :-D

    But with Ecostore, I can clean out a cup stained with my morning cuppa, and then drink water from it with no added flavour. A huge win for a household of sensory people where scent, taste, appearance, and texture can affect them eating or drinking! So if you have similar sensory issues in your home, please consider Ecostore dish liquid!

    And with no nasty chemical residue taste… I feel perfectly happy to not only wash my children’s dishes with it, but our fur and feather babies’ dishes too. As pets can be more sensitive to chemical cleaners than we are, it’s good to have a dish liquid that can be used to clean our dishes as well as their own.

    So – Ecostore dish liquid is a huge win in this house as it ticks so many helpful boxes.

    Would I recommend this product to others?

    Yes I would, for all of the reasons above. If you’re looking for a truly environmentally friendly product, which really does clean, is safe around pets and kids, and contains no nasty chemicals… then this is the product for you.

    Would I buy this product myself?

    Yes I would but not necessarily as my first choice. As mentioned at the start, this was the first time I used it as I usually use a different “eco-friendly” dish liquid. And the reason I might choose the other cleaner over Ecostore is simply due to the bottle top. The other brand is a pop-top, and for me very easy to open one handed. I did struggle with opening the Ecostore’s flip-top one handed. This is a personal thing and does not affect the quality of the product in any way.

    In summary: Ecofriendly, kid friendly, pet friendly, does the job it’s meant to do. Big win.

  • Sudsy earth friendly dishwashing liquid!

    I was really pleased at how well this dishwashing liquid cleaned we usually use a concentrated brand at home so this was a change but a good one, this liquid has a pleasant lemon fragrance, cleans just as well as any other brand name dishwashing liquid I’ve ever used, leaves no residue or soapy buildup on dishes and it’s good for the environment to boot.

    You can’t go wrong really! We will buy again.

  • My new go-to brand

    I love love love the laundry liquid. After a couple of washes with it my clothes feel much softer (without using any softener)!

    The scent is light and not over powering and stains (from toddler and baby) come off after one wash without pre-treatment.

    Both my toddler and baby have eczema and this laundry liquid did not irritate their skin at all.

    The dishwash liquid is also my new favourite as it does not have a strong chemical smell and cleans off grease better than I expected. Will definitely be making these my go-to products from now on!

    This laundry and kitchen range delivers the best results.. Firstly after using the laundry liquid my clothes and all washing came out spotlessly clean, removing all dirt, and even old stains I thought would never come out, tried other products without success, very impressed, using only a cap or two, washing is all clean, and the lovely fragrance leaves everything smelling so fresh too..

    This dishwashing liquid was just great, a small squeeze and perfectly clean dishes, nice and sudsy, smells fresh, and seems gentle on my hands, a little embarrassed to admit my dishes have never looked so shiny.. Very impressed..

  • Eco wash

    Wow the laundry wash smelt amazing my clothes came out smelly and feeling soft and washed my clothes well especially my 1 year olds clothes the clothes felt really clean

    It was easy to use and hold the contain

    Down side of the laundry was the price for me it was really expensive and I only got 1/2 the washes out it than what it said I would but I was probably a little bit heavy handed on it

    Washing up liquid was great it was soap smelt fantastic and made my hands feel soft after using it again the price was expensive for me

    Unfortunately due to my budget I won’t be purchasing these products u less they are on sale

  • Still loving my EcoStore products!!

    Both the laundry liquid and dishwashing liquid are going strong and continue to work really well on our household chores!! With messy kids, dirty dishes and working parents, the products cut through grimy dishes and dirty daycare clothes. I'm so happy with these products & would definitely purchase again!!

    I loved that this is eco friendly , and it worked really well. The kitchen benches came up really clean and streak free which is always a bonus. Its a little expensive but yes I would buy this again

  • Safe and reliable

    I have not had a dishwasher for several years so I know how important it is to have washing products that actually work. These products are amazing both in the kitchen and in the laundry. The dish liquid delivers good sud levels and cleans well but my favourite product is the eucalyptus laundry product. It cleans clothes so well and leaves a lovely fragrance. And if you have any idea what goes through our laundry you'd now we need products that work! Great value for money, great for the environment from a trusted brand. Win win win!

    I loved using the ecostore laundry and kitchen range products. They smell lovely and fresh and left my kitchen sink smelling clean. These products worked as they were supposed to. I appreciate the commitment that the ecostore company has to minimising detriment to our environment.After trialling these I also bought the ecostore dishwashing powder to try in our dishwasher. That has made a big difference to the smell of our dishwasher. It never smelt very pleasant. After using this powder for a few weeks it smells fine :)

    I noticed the difference instantly with the non chemical smell in the multi spray and dishwashing liquid and the natural essential oil smell.

    Love the fresh natural smell.

‘Trust Your Intuition’: How To Advocate For Your Child In Hospital

Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.

What if I’m overreacting?
What if I’ve got it wrong?

So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.

It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.

Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise

According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.

“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.

While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.

So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.

“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.

Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone

A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.

You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.

Leticia gets it.

“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”

But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.

Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.

“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”

Remember, we know our children better than anyone.

What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process

If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.

Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
  2. Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
  3. Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.

You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.

What should you actually look out for?

Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.

Things like:

  • Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
  • Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
  • Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
  • Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
  • Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
  • Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse

And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.

That’s enough.

“You are helping us, not bothering us”

If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.

“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.

“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”

The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.

“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”

And if you’re still worried about being judged?

“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”

In fact you are your child’s expert and should never stop advocating for them or speaking up. Sometimes professionals are very good in waving concerns away, all it takes is a human who listens

  • Even as a healthcare professional, when I took my soon to the ED when I was concerned, I felt awkward about speaking up, worried I was making a big deal out of nothing (even though i would never tjink this about a patient’s family if the roles were reversed). The message in this article is so important. Always stick to your guns. Always speak up and advocate for your kids – they can’t do it for themselves.

  • And honestly, some medical staff are idiots. I vividly remember the night two doctors huddled over my son’s lung x-rays. I hadn’t been allowed to accompany him to have them taken as I was pregnant. They finally told me solemnly that they were preparing to do emergency surgery as there was something in his lungs – “we don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely man made”. I took one look at the x-rays and asked if they’d taken off the battery packs for his cochlear implants, which were pinned to the back of his shirt, before the x-ray. And of course they hadn’t, and of course that’s what appeared to be in his lungs. Honestly!

  • You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.

  • A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!

  • Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
    So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.

  • This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.

I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.

  • How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!

  • This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.

  • This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.

  • I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.
