  • Hair is finer and sparser

I love my Philips Lumea Comfort IPL. Since I've been using it, my hairs have been growing back finer and sparser. I've completed six sessions in total with the last two being four to five weeks apart. The Philips Lumea Comfort IPL is easy to do and doesn't really take much time at all.

  • Love it! Very happy with results

Treatment number six complete and I'm more than impressed....

Since the the first treatment there is noticeably much less hair and what is there seems to be growing back very slowly and very finely...

I have recommended the Lumia to a number of friends and will continue to do so...

I am really impressed with the results and will continue to use it for maintenance until hopefully no hair remains at all!

  • Well worth the money!

I must say that after 3 months of use I am pretty impressed with the Philips Lumea. My legs are not hair free, but I am finding that there is considerably less regrowth since I have been using it. I love the compact, convenient size of the unit, & most of all - I love that I can use it in the comfort of my own home at a time that suits me! I would definitely recommend the Lumea to anyone who wants to invest in an IPL :)

  • Step by step...slowly but surely...

Soooo I have been using the Lumea Comfort IPL on my chin and my lower legs now for about a month and a half. My lower legs have definite bald patches which is so exciting I can't even begin to tell you. Unbelievable. Soooo sooo happy. Results on my chin are different. The hair doesn't seem to growing back any slower (as I'd previously thought) and I definitely can't see any change regarding less hair. I'm not going to give up though. I'm thinking that because the hairs on my legs are softer, they'll respond more quickly than the stubborn coarser hair on my chin...god that's so embarrassing! Shhhh don't tell anyone!

  • So far so good!!

I have used the Lumea twice now on both my bikini area and my legs. The directions are very easy to follow and although I was a little nervous at first it is very easy!!

Both legs and bikini area were done in under half an hour.

I agree with others about the brightness of the light but obviously that is need to make the Lumea work.

I'm waiting eagerly to see some results!!

  • Mixed results, but very happy

Well I have just completed my 6th session- which the manual says is the requirement of fortnightly treatments and then to use less often after that.

My underarms haven't changed a lot. the hair is softer and maybe a little less, but no major change. My legs are still patchy, but I no longer have to shave every 2-3 days, now I can definitely last a week or so between shaves and when I do I have a LOT less hair to remove, so shaving only takes a few seconds.

My bikini is great, with almost all of the hair gone! YAY. This was the worst place to treat in the beginning as you have to shave before the IPL, and then for days after I had awful itchy regrowth, but that subsided after about the 3rd or 4th treatment, with the regrowth being very fine and now almost non existent.

Overall very happy with this product, it hasn't worked perfectly, but it will make a huge difference to the amount of time I spend removing hair in the future.

  • going great guns!

5th use all done (and almost time for my 6th use) and my bikini line is hairless apart from a few stragglers on the edge (maybe I've missed them and that's why they are growing). Underarms don't seem to be doing well. Hair is a little finer, but still plenty of hair and having to shave every 2-3 days so no major change.

Legs are patchy and when they do grow I can leave it a week or two and although there are some longer hairs over 50% aren't growing so I don't look hairy scary!

Still hasn't worked at all on my knees.

  • Hair Today! Gone tomorrow! The Lumia is brilliant!

So treatment number five all done and getting quicker at it, with each new turn.

Definitely seeing the results now with leg hair becoming quite patchy and definitely finer where it's still growing - Exfoliating is definitely the key at this stage to make sure the finer hairs don't become in grown...

Underarms and bikini line are both looking pretty good with less hair than there was originally..

Still loving the Lumea and would recommend it to all!

  • A reduction in hair growth

For reduction in hair growth Philips Lumea Comfort IPL has been doing it's job. With each application I am finding that the regrowth is growing back thinner and finer. I love the skin colour sensor as my bikini line is a slightly different colour from my legs. The slide and flash mode is great for my legs, the only thing I don't like is the bright light from the flash.

  • Definite improvement!

I love the Phipps Lumea Comfort. I have completed four sessions on my legs and bikini line and I can notice a definite improvement. For the first three sessions, I did it every two weeks but, for the fourth, I left it go for three weeks. I love the slide and flash mode however, the only thing I don't really like is the flash, I wear my sunnies for when I need to look at what I'm doing. That's a photo of my leg showing how smooth they are!

  • Painfree!

My girl friend let me try her Philips Lumea Comfort on my legs and I was really surprised that it truly is painless. Every now and then you feel little prickles but it is not what I was expecting while trying this gadget. I love that it has adjustable light energy settings and is safe and effective even on sensitive areas. One of my favourite features is the skin color sensor as I am quite pale so I felt confident that I wasn't going to burn my skin.

I am so excited to be using this product. I am usually put off by the pain, I have a low pain threshold, but this one is not only painless, it is actually fun! My husband likes to try it so he helps me out a lot. I have only used it once and can't wait for the two weeks period to pass so I can try again

  • It has changed my life

Its really great. I have very thick black hair and white skin. I suffered a lot a lot before I buy this product. All I can tell is I saw a good result already after first us.!!!!! 2 weeks after I had used the Lumea I noticed that hair is falling and my skin became so much softer. Now its 4 times I have used it and 70% of hairs are gone and the rest growth very slowly. I do not shave for 2 weeks. Amazing really saved my life. I recommend it to all who suffer from hair on their body. It has no pain really no pain and easy to use. The only problem is battery charge finishes soon but for me its ok, I can charge it 3 times when I do all my legs.

    I am happy, so happy.

  • Pain free and easy

I've had laser done on my underarms and every 2-3 years need to have a touch up done at the clinic. Now I don't as I have the Philips Lumea. To do my underarms was pain free and very easy. I am happy with the result. My next task will to do my legs which I hope to attack in the next day or too. Will keep you updated. (I tried to take a photo of my underarm but it didn't work)

  • Sixth treatment, and sadly still hairy

I've completed the six recommended treatments, but unfortunately had no significant hair loss - I'm still shaving each day and I actually got out the wax and depilatory machine the other day and did my bikini line as the daily shaving and regrowth was giving me ingrown hairs.

I was really hoping that the Lumea would reduce the amount of time I spend removing hair each day, but unfortunately I still shave my legs and underarms each day, and my bikini line was nowhere near bikini-ready.

I'll try again next winter, and give it a few more sessions, but for now, I'm heading outside for some lovely spring weather.

  • Final verdict: Happy with results but takes a lot of patience!

I just finished a treatment and will share my final thoughts.

    - the hair has reduced but still not hair free, especially on my arms. The hair is patchy so it looks like it worked in some areas but not others as I have missed those areas. I have just tried the slide and flash mode to see if this will make a difference. But the hair has grown back softer and I only shave them once a fortnight before treatment and have just pushed it to 3 weeks without much regrowth.

    - the unit is very easy to use and I find it is most effective in smaller areas, especially on the face, underarms and bikini.

    - the light is a bit on the bright side and feel like a pair of glasses to cut the glare and for piece of mind included with the unit would be a good idea. Especially since it's hard to do the treatment sometimes without looking at what you're doing.

    - I find that this is the most pain free and cost effective way of removing unwanted hair. Much cheaper and more comfortable than waxing.

    - the treatment requires a lot of patience before the results start to be seen so persistence is key.

I will definitely continue to use this appliance and will be my go to method of hair removal now eliminating the need to travel to a salon (which is difficult with a toddler and not much "me time") and saving a lot of money. (a one off payment of a few hundred $ as opposed to 35 a month and a chance of permanent hair removal?) Thank you so so much for the opportunity to review this.

I've added a before treatment and after 3 months of treatment photo.

  • 5th (or 6th) treatment - pretty happy!

I am REALLY pleased with how this has worked on my legs.

I was SO hairy and had regrowth within a day or two after shaving.

Now, I can go 2 weeks and the regrowth is just starting to get noticeable.

My bikini line and underarms unfortunately haven't changed much. But I'm still trying.

I tend to put off doing it as it takes a while and the fan is noisy. Too noisy to do whilst watching TV for instance. It probably takes me about 30-40 minutes to both legs thoroughly.

  • Update...

The results are pretty much the same as the last post. The hair is taking longer to grow back and is sparser but I still need to shave before each treatment Nd there's a few pesky facial hairs that are hard to get rid of!! Other than that though I'm happy with the overall results. It's a very gradual process to get rid of most of the hair and it's a lot cheaper, less time consuming and less painful than waxing so this will be my go to hair removal solution and will keep persevering.

  • Fifth treatment - waiting for results

I'm feeling a but disappointed, because although I might (not sure) have a few patches of lees growth on my bikini line, I'm still far from hair free. I shave my bikini line pretty much every day as the prickles are really uncomfortable, and the hairs are still dark and thick.

I've not noticed any reduction on my underarms or legs either - there are no bare patches on my legs yet. Given that it takes around 90 mins to do my legs, bikini line and underarms, it takes quite a lot of time and it is hard to keep up the schedule when I haven't seen any results yet.

I'm hoping to see some improvement after tonight's treatment, my fingers are crossed!

  • It seems 5's my magic number!

While my 3rd and 4th treatments softened the hair and slowed the growth it seems treatment 5 is where I really noticed changes! The 'snail trail' is non existent! Hair in other small areas is gone too! My legs hairs on the other hand are still there although growth is quite patchy. I'm not sure whether this is due to the growth cycle or a case of missed bits! I'm thinking it's the latter. While the unit is easy to use I find it hard to see if I am getting enough 'light' coverage. I think a larger, slightly curved head (light window) would make a huge difference. And on the subject of light, again I still think there needs to be glasses included in the pack as it's especially hard to ensure you're getting even coverage on larger areas without looking at what you are doing. Regardless, my need to shave my legs every few days is down to once a week (yay) and I feel with continued use this is only going to get better. I'm so happy I got the opportunity to try this product and I would recommend others try it too.

  • Value for money when compared to laser treatments in salons

The Philips Lumea is definitely value for money. I had a couple of laser treatments on 2 small spots on my face, in the chin area and was charged $70 per treatment. The treatment was also quite painful. I did see a reduction in hair growth but no more than I'm seeing with the Lumea and I also find the Lumea more painfree. it is so much easier to do the treatments at home too.

  • Still loving this product

I love this machine. It is easy to use, stores well and so much cheaper than salon treatments. While I'm yet to see a dramatic reduction in the number of hairs, I can definitely see a reduction in the coarseness. The regrowing hairs are much finer. I am looking forward to persevering and continuing the treatment. Even with other treatments, like epilation, it all takes time.

If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

What to put in kids’ lunch boxes

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • That lunchbox comparison table is handy to have. It helped me make a decision on which lunchbox to buy next for my daughter who is starting kindergarten. I needed to upgrade her lunchbox but wasn’t sure which way to go. The table helped me with my decision. I ended up going with the BBOX and have found a cheaper lunch bag from a department store that it fits in.

  • I do not know if anyone else has picked up on this or not, but every bag mentioned in the table above is a ‘designer’ brand. There are plenty of more affordable options that aren’t over $40. I have never spent that much on a lunchbox – even from Smiggle. The cheaper brands last just as well too.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.

  • So so many fantastic options! We use the montii co ones for our kdis and swear by it. Its lasted 3 years so far and still standing strong, like new since the first day using it. They are so durable and i find cleaning them to be the easiest for us.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • This is an extremely useful article!! 2 schppl going kids and third starting kinder soon means we are always on the lookout for lunch ideas and lunch boxes. This is a great list with features and prices listed to make the search easier and help with decision making for purchasing of the lunch boxes

  • This is super useful article and thank you. I can see so variety of lunch boxes from every store. Always wonder which one would be more convenient to use by little hands. I love some of these lunchboxes to give it a try for this year. And then decide to go with suitable ones

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

    Reply

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

    Reply

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

    Reply

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.
