  • Hair is finer and sparser

I love my Philips Lumea Comfort IPL. Since I’ve been using it, my hairs have been growing back finer and sparser. I’ve completed six sessions in total with the last two being four to five weeks apart. The Philips Lumea Comfort IPL is easy to do and doesn’t really take much time at all.

  • Love it! Very happy with results

Treatment number six complete and I’m more than impressed….
Since the the first treatment there is noticeably much less hair and what is there seems to be growing back very slowly and very finely…
I have recommended the Lumia to a number of friends and will continue to do so…
I am really impressed with the results and will continue to use it for maintenance until hopefully no hair remains at all!

  • Well worth the money!

I must say that after 3 months of use I am pretty impressed with the Philips Lumea. My legs are not hair free, but I am finding that there is considerably less regrowth since I have been using it. I love the compact, convenient size of the unit, & most of all – I love that I can use it in the comfort of my own home at a time that suits me! I would definitely recommend the Lumea to anyone who wants to invest in an IPL :)

  • Step by step...slowly but surely...

Soooo I have been using the Lumea Comfort IPL on my chin and my lower legs now for about a month and a half. My lower legs have definite bald patches which is so exciting I can’t even begin to tell you. Unbelievable. Soooo sooo happy. Results on my chin are different. The hair doesn’t seem to growing back any slower (as I’d previously thought) and I definitely can’t see any change regarding less hair. I’m not going to give up though. I’m thinking that because the hairs on my legs are softer, they’ll respond more quickly than the stubborn coarser hair on my chin…god that’s so embarrassing! Shhhh don’t tell anyone!

  • So far so good!!

I have used the Lumea twice now on both my bikini area and my legs. The directions are very easy to follow and although I was a little nervous at first it is very easy!!
Both legs and bikini area were done in under half an hour.
I agree with others about the brightness of the light but obviously that is need to make the Lumea work.
I’m waiting eagerly to see some results!!

  • Mixed results, but very happy

Well I have just completed my 6th session- which the manual says is the requirement of fortnightly treatments and then to use less often after that.

My underarms haven’t changed a lot. the hair is softer and maybe a little less, but no major change. My legs are still patchy, but I no longer have to shave every 2-3 days, now I can definitely last a week or so between shaves and when I do I have a LOT less hair to remove, so shaving only takes a few seconds.

My bikini is great, with almost all of the hair gone! YAY. This was the worst place to treat in the beginning as you have to shave before the IPL, and then for days after I had awful itchy regrowth, but that subsided after about the 3rd or 4th treatment, with the regrowth being very fine and now almost non existent.

Overall very happy with this product, it hasn’t worked perfectly, but it will make a huge difference to the amount of time I spend removing hair in the future.

  • going great guns!

5th use all done (and almost time for my 6th use) and my bikini line is hairless apart from a few stragglers on the edge (maybe I’ve missed them and that’s why they are growing). Underarms don’t seem to be doing well. Hair is a little finer, but still plenty of hair and having to shave every 2-3 days so no major change.
Legs are patchy and when they do grow I can leave it a week or two and although there are some longer hairs over 50% aren’t growing so I don’t look hairy scary!
Still hasn’t worked at all on my knees.

  • Hair Today! Gone tomorrow! The Lumia is brilliant!

So treatment number five all done and getting quicker at it, with each new turn.
Definitely seeing the results now with leg hair becoming quite patchy and definitely finer where it’s still growing – Exfoliating is definitely the key at this stage to make sure the finer hairs don’t become in grown…
Underarms and bikini line are both looking pretty good with less hair than there was originally..
Still loving the Lumea and would recommend it to all!

  • Great results

So it’s been over a week since my 4th treatment and I am really seening a big change now. There are bald patches on my legs, but other patches are growing still although slower than normal. It hasn’t worked at all on my knees, and limited success on my underarms (hair is slower growing, but still dark and doesn’t seem like any less hairs as such). Bikini is doing great with most hairs gone, or very, very slow growing.

  • Seeing some hair reduction!

This is my third use now and I am definitely seeing some change in the hair growth. A portion of the hairs seem to have stopped growing (I can see the normal hairs growing and then every 4th hair or so is just a black dot in the skin that isn’t growing out). I’m guessing these are the hairs that will “shed” on their own as time goes on. As a result my legs feel smoother with less hair regrowing overall.
Still a pain to get out an extension cord when I want to sit on the lounge and do my legs, but the bikini and underarms are quick and easy to do in the bathroom.

  • Second time...

I’ve now used the Lumea a second time and certainly have the technique all sorted. I can’t say I have noticed any reduction in hair yet, but it felt like the regrowth was possibly softer. i’ve had to shave several times between treatments, so it will be interesting to see if that shaving frequency lessens after more treatments.

It really is a simple product to use, and hopefully it’s doing it’s job and soon I can shave less!

  • Light, comfortable and easy

I was SO excited to find out I had been accepted for this trial. Laser hair removal is something I have talked about doing for years, but it has always been too expensive, and just impossible to take time to do with my busy schedule and small children. The in home IPL with Lumia just seems the perfect solution!

I received the Lumia early last week and wanted to use it straight away, but was surprised that it didn’t have a battery function, so had to leave it until the weekend and the kids were in bed so that I could roll out an extension lead and sit on the couch while I did my legs.
A friend has a different model of the Lumia which has a battery and you charge it up and she swears by sitting in front of the telly doing it at night, so I was sad that I either had to stand near a plug, or use a lead.

That aside the Lumia itself is surprisingly light and easy to hold and use. The large button meant my finger didn’t get sore pressing over and over again.
My underarms and bikini line were really quick and easy and I did those standing in in the bathroom in front of the mirror. I had to shave the bikini (I usually wax) so I hope I don’t get that horrible itchy regrowth in that area I have had before if I have had to shave in a hurry.

The legs took a lot longer- the package says 11min per lower leg. It took me just over 25min for both legs, and I am short and very skinny, so bigger ladies should allow a little longer. It was hard to tell exactly where I had previously “hit” as the end of the product is much bigger than the actual IPL window. I managed to get a good little “shift” going along the leg after a while though.

There is a little light that shows when the laser is ready to fire, but I couldn’t ever see that side of the Lumia when holding it to do underarms or bikini. Holding the product to do legs it was right way up though and I could easily see the light. It was ready very, very quickly though each time so I wasn’t really needing to look and wait for the light.

Twice I accidentally hit the little dial which changes the intensity setting (I used 5 on all areas as recommended for my skin tone and hair colour). So when it was pressed the machine reset back to intensity 1. I am hoping it was only for the single flash when I realised, rather than me having been flashing away for a while before seeing it had changed.

Overall I am really happy with the way the product works, the time taken is really great and apart from needing to roll out a cord to sit comfortably on the lounge I am in love with this product.

Now just to see if it really works! Time will tell……

I fondly remember slow, summer afternoons with family and friends gathered around a table of delicious finger-food during my childhood – the adults chatting and laughing, the kids pretending they understood the jokes. My parents had continued their Mediterranean traditions long after settling in Australia – and the simple joy of an effortlessly elegant gathering was one of my favourites.

What I don’t remember is my parents ever being stressed about the gatherings. It all just seemed to ‘come together’. Ah, how times have changed!

There’s something about the Italian style of entertaining that’s still so alluring in our fast-paced family lives. The idea of La Dolce Vita: a sweet life surrounded by family, friends, food and minimal fuss. Which is why we’ve enlisted the help of the entertaining experts at Sandhurst to share easy tips for elegant, memorable summer get-togethers.

We also asked our community of mums to share their tried and true, easy summer entertaining ideas, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Euro-Inspired Entertaining

Sandhurst

Before we dive into the delicious world of sumptuous, simple summer entertaining, it helps to know a little about the inspiration behind our guide. And that’s the concept of Italian entertaining – where time is taken to lovingly grow ingredients, before enjoying them with those you love.

Established in 1988, Sandhurst was born from the time-honoured traditions of generations of the family behind the brand – a proud Italian Australian family passionate about quality produce sourced from world’s best growers.

At the helm of Sandhurst are brothers Mimmo and Ray Lubrano, who live and breathe the impeccable ingredients that become the centrepiece of so many gatherings in Australian family homes.

“Tradition is what we stand for. We’re custodians of Italian values,” explained Mimmo. “When we go to Italy we see it in our grandparents, our parents came from Italy in the 50s. The tradition is a set of values: honesty, teamwork, participation, family – all the things you would associate with Italian family are the values.”

And it’s these beautiful values that make summer gatherings in Australia an extension of the European table.

Easy Summer Entertaining Starts With … Time Saving Secrets!

Sandhurst

A sweet summer of entertaining doesn’t need to be stressful. In fact, it shouldn’t be. It’s a chance to spend time with loved ones. To press pause on life and make memories. And it can be simple! So here are some really easy tips for making your home the place where everyone wants to gather this summer.

Create An Entertaining Kit

Whether it’s pre-planned or you’ve had friends or family drop-in, having a few things ready to go immediately melts away any stress. Here are some things to include in a summer entertaining kit:

  • A red table cloth: It instantly says festive!
  • Some platters and serving dishes
  • Candles
  • Some quality antipasto ingredients that simply need to be decanted and enjoyed!

Many Hands Make Light Work

As mums, we tend to be our own worst enemy when it comes to delegating tasks. But remember, a summer of entertaining is about creating memories – not perfection. So let the kids help, and accept offers from your guests who’d like to bring something along to share.

“It can be overwhelming, so just delegate, and prepare. I do one dish prep per day and pop them in the freezer. Then they just need to be heated up. Let the kids do the decorating for you – plus keeps them busy!” – MoM Member Kirsty

Decorate With Happiness

There’s no need to pull out your finest crystal to pull off an elegant get together. Take a look around your home and garden to see what will bring your table to life. A bowl of lemons is a gorgeous addition, as is a bunch of gum leaves. Keep it simple and understated.

Sandhurst

Finger Food For The Win

Nothing says simple summer elegance more than a charcuterie board (or three!). When my friends and our families get together, it’s our go-to – every family is asked to ‘bring a board’. Some do savoury and some sweet, so we’re covered for a long afternoon of catching up.

“Food wise, I keep it simple by doing cold deli meats, cheeses, fresh fruits and veggies.” – MoM Member

But just because boards are easy to put together, doesn’t mean they can’t ooze elegance. And that comes down to including quality ingredients. Choosing Sandhurst products is the easiest way to guarantee the highest quality ends up on your table. We love the premise behind the brand: from our family to yours – it invokes that nostalgic feeling of shared stories, history, gatherings and family.

How To Put Together A Charcuterie Board

There are no right or wrong ways to create a charcuterie board, but to ensure a balance of textures and flavours try to include:

La Dolce Vita!

A summer of sophisticated entertaining doesn’t have to be hours and hours of work. We don’t want it to be! By grabbing some beautiful ingredients to fill your pantry next time you’re shopping, you’ll know that at a moment’s notice you’ll have everything you need for a Euro-inspired gathering. No fuss, but plenty of substance and style!

    • Yes I agree, finger foods are easy and yummie ! And you can assemble a healthy enough plate (certainly when you add salads, cheeses, nuts, fruits, boiled eggs, olives and rustic breads) that it can certainly can replace a meal (either lunch or dinner). Everyone happy and no hours of preparation in the kitchen :)

      • Also; the other bonus is less mess to clean up when cutlery is not needed. Finger food is the best for laid back and relaxed get togethers. There is always such a clam and relaxed feel to a finger food meal without the need for any fancy and stuffy table settings.
