Little Miss is still loving her vitamins. She has them daily and constantly asks if she can have more. She knows that they are good for her but the flavour is the big winner in her eyes.

Since trialling the calcium+d3 and probiotics my child doesn't forget to tell me i need to give them to her. She reminds me on a daily basis which helps as i tend to forget being a busy mum. I'm glad i can give my child the boost she needs in her diet plus giving her something she likes. Happy child happy mummy ????

After trying the d3 calcium in water, on cereal I eventually handed one to my 2 year old which much hesitation as the bottle suggests otherwise. Much to my surprise she gobbled it up and asked for more. She then cried at not getting more. The probiotic were a hit from day one, d3 took some convincing but perseverance pays off.

My child insists on having more but i tell her, only one of each a day. Then she frowns and gives me the sad face... As long as these are good for the children and they want it, I'm happy to give it to them as it makes it a whole lot easier to get some good nutrients in their diet without them even knowing. Thumbs up.

My three children love both of these products! My 6 year old asks for the "chewy" and "crunchy" lollies as soon as dinner finishes! They do not forget to take these and they always ask for their vitamins! We have tried others and couldn't get them to take them! Definitely a winner!

The Swisse products arrived and I was a bit dubious how they would be received given the picture shown of what Miss 2 and Miss 4 have been having (basically a gummy lolly). I was pleasantly surprised when they both gobbled them up, said they were "yummy" (chewable tablet) and asked for more! Unfortunately the calcium D3 were not as well received so I'll write another review specifically on that product. Day 1, new vitamin = success!

I give my kids swiss brand probotics tablets, I used to give them powedered version but we don't use it as the kids say they can taste it. since my kids is also fussy with liquid, theres nothing I could put the powder in. the tablets is better, my kids are 9 and 11 so they are able to swallow the whole.
they also have multivitamins chewable. it took my kids a long time to get used to the taste, they weren't keen but its either that or liquid version. they both have 2 chewables to get it over done with.
I trust this brand to help out what my children may be missing out on.
I wouldn't stop using this brand.

Thought I would update.. It has been a few weeks since starting these and they are still a big hit. Little miss is loving them, no reminders from me to take them she does it without prompting. She also has made sure there are some at Daddy’s house so she does not miss a day. As for health benefits I definitely think the probiotic is working, she used to intermittently get reflux especially after dairy, no longer an issue!! Definitely on our purchase again list.

Initially the attitude the kids took was not more tablets to take. The first day they screwed their noses up but that soon changed. Now they make sure I give them to them every day. I'm sure they watch the clock. No more colds or sore tummies since they started taking these. The fact they don't contain sugar I definitely recommend them

My daughter asks for her "lolly" every day and loves it. I sincerely feel she has advanced in lots of ways - shes certainly had less daycare caught illnesses this year. I started her on these as I had read that looking after the gut and giving probiotics helps with brain development. I'm sure this coincided with her starting to talk more (she was delayed at most milestones due to being in a harness until she was 9 months old).

My child did not like the taste of these at all. He tried them a few times but as a 10 year old I was not about to force him to take anything he didn't like and the point of a review is to the get the honest opinion. He likes the other ones and while the tablets are good for him I am not going to force him to have something he doesn't like, I will compensate for the goodness of the tablets in other ways

I am thankful to be able to trial these 2 vitamins but not 100% sold on them.
No.1 negative is that it comes in a bottle that my 6 year van easily open and since he likes the taste he is tempted to eat more than the recommended daily dose (yes, you do need to keep it out of reach but it would be handy if the lid was made childproof). My 9 year old daughter hated the taste and refused to have it after day 1.

So after 3 weeks now of trying the Swisse probiotic and calcium+ D3, I’ve noticed a few things. Firstly, getting into routine of taking them seems to be key. My toddler is used to adding both to his breaky now. Though he seems to be a bit clued on now to the fact that they aren’t lollies!!! I think that he really needs the supplement in his diet even though I try to keep his meals balanced, he gets fussy (like a lot of toddlers??!!!) and so I feel really happy I can offer a bit more of a boost through a brand I trust. Personally I’ve used Swisse during pregnancy and I find them really great quality!
My toddler hasn’t been unwell since taking the Swisse supplements and his tummy has actually been a lot better. He can struggle with constipation but we’ve had no issues in that department since taking them. We will continue with both of the Swisse products and I seriously recommend other mums to try them!

I would love give a better review of this. I kept trying, but as it goes with toddlers, some days she liked it, and others she just spat it out and practically clawed it off her tongue (not joking).
The probiotic was a lot more successful than the Calcium + D3, but even that wasn't a hit some days. My daughter LOVES (LOVES LOVES) her Greek Yoghurt, so I was never that concerned for that, but I hoped she would get benefits from the calcium + D3. I found I had to put it into things such as her yoghurt and/or smoothies to get her to take it.

Ok. So I don't normally accept defeat but on this I must concede!!! The white flag has been raised.
So I wish I had a video of my devastating surrender but I shall have to try and put this loss into words.
My plan failed! EPICALLY!!! I thought for sure I could sneak the Squishy, squashy pops into the bottles undetected but alas I was thwarted by the consistency. Secondly my photo demonstrates a bottle after 2 runs through the dishwasher. This stuff is tough!!! It won't come off easily so bottle hiding is no longer an option.
My third and final battle was a tough one and most devastating in its losses. Mr Fuss again is refusing both types but my ray of hope has been going strong until....
"Mummy Little Miss just vomited!!"
Indeed there was strawberry fizz everywhere!!! She hadn't thrown up but chewed up and spat the whole Probiotic all over the patio with a mother's most dreaded words "Don't like it". Just like that she was done! No more!
I'm sorry MoMs I have failed but I have given an honest account of our trial with Swisse.
One thing I will add before closing this mission is that her tummy was more settled, less gassy and her movements more soft and movey so they definately were helping her.
My suggestion to the Lovely people at Swisse is make a version of both that will slip under the radar in a bottle and we will be your first testers again (especially for a Probiotic it really helped!!). They do help but for my munchkins it was the delivery that let down the science.
So I am passing the mission to friends and will report is she succeeds with her 4 where I have failed you!

Little Miss has been happy to have a Strawberry Fizzer everyday. But Mr Fussy has now decided that that the Squishy Sqashy Pop is now a weapon of 'tasteyucktion' and will not try it at all. Swisse Kids Range - the perfect way to keep them healthy!
My husband and I try to lead by example and live a healthy life. We practise eating clean, exercising and taking daily vitamins to help our bodies and minds perform at their peak. Therefore it is a no-brainer that our two year old son should also be eating healthy and exercising... but our son is a REALLY fussy eater and being a headstrong and stubborn little man means sometimes we are just lucky that he even eats! When I discovered the new Swisse Kids Probiotic and Swisse Kids Calcium + D3, I was only too pleased to give them a go and see what his thoughts were. The packaging and product presentation is appealing and easy to distinguish on pharmacy shelves. I absolutely love how this probiotic does not require refrigeration which meant that we were able to pack it with us on our family weekend down south to ensure our son's immune system was at its best. While I loved Calcium + D3 and Probiotic formula's berry/strawberry flavour (which is sugar-free by the way), they are WAY too sweet and so my son would only suck on them, rather than chewing them and my husband refused to eat one whole as well. I tried them myself and while I consumed them fully, I also found the flavour was waaaay too sweet for me. I also find that the Calcium + D3 capsule casing (which protects a gooey berry-flavoured liquid within) was really and hard to break down/swallow. My toddler also seems to experience this because we would both bite the capsule open and suck out the contents. Overall the Swisse Kids range is a fantastic concept and a great way to encourage children to stay healthy, however these new products need a little perfecting in order to help them sell and for children to fully love and embrace them.

I used the calcium+D3 liquod capsules yesterday and found ot reaply easy to dispense and mix in with my toddler's food. He didn't notice the taste and the capsules came in a handy pod to break. I like that it is sugar free as I often worry about hpw muxh artificial flavouring and sugars a lot of kids products have. Haven't used it lomg enpugh to see the effects. All in all not a bad vitamin.

Gave my toddler some of the probiotics to chew on and he finished it and begged me for more! no more having to hide it in food! Great progress.
The only sigguestion I habe is for some 2 year olds you might like to make it dissolvable in the mouth rather than cjewable so its a little easier. All in all doing well.

‘Trust Your Intuition’: How To Advocate For Your Child In Hospital
Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.
What if I’m overreacting? What if I’ve got it wrong?
So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.
It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.
Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise
According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.
“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.
Leticia Jackson, Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital
While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.
So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.
“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.
Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone
A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.
You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.
Leticia gets it.
“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”
But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.
Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.
“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”
Remember, we know our children better than anyone.
What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process
If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.
Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.
Here’s how it works:
Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.
You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.
What should you actually look out for?
Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.
Things like:
Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse
And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.
That’s enough.
“You are helping us, not bothering us”
If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.
“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.
“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”
The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.
“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”
And if you’re still worried about being judged?
“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”
I have learned many times to always listen to your gut and speak up when you don’t think something is right. This article was a great read, our kids are our world and if we don’t feel they are getting the right help, and we feel it, we need to speak up.
You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.
A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!
Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.
This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.
It’s so important to follow your gut instincts and express your concerns indeed. I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.
How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!
This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.
This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.
I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.
