  • A fave in our house!

My kids love tip top wholemeal with fruit breakfast toast either for breakfast or even just a snack. It is something I wouldn’t have thought they would eat but they really enjoy it and keep asking for more. This has become a regular item in our shopping each week. Until the kids find something else which I hope they don’t because it is a great product and I want to keep buying it for them!

  • Great for breakfast

The kids are still enjoying having tip top wholemeal with fruit breakfast toast of a morning before school. It’s good for the kids as they like to take their time getting ready for school and its a much more healthier option then cereal which is full of sugar and fats. I didn’t think they would like it but they do.

  • Tip tops the one...

Tip top wholemeal with fruit breakfast toast is a favourite in our house. There are 5 of us enjoying it at the moment with a sixth not far off joining in. The kids love it for breakfast and it’s so easy to get ready for them. Even my fussy daughter likes it which is a change as she doesn’t like trying too many different things.

  • We love the Fruit!

It’s good having fruit with your breakfast, it’s great that it is already part of what your eating already. The toast with very yummy and the kids a happy to eat it in the morning. I find that the kids like it toasted just right, I like the toast a bit burnt, my wife likes it in the middle. This is a meal that keeps you going for longer, makes you not hungry which is the problem I was having. After breakfast still hungry but when I have this I am actually full. Really healthy option to some of the other varieties of breakfast’s. It is also yummy during the winter months especially, eating nice warm toast, warms you inside too.

  • Even the fussy one loved it!

We love fruit toast in our house, and my mother in law brought it home one morning by accident. I’m so glad she did because this fruit toast is really yummy! In our house we have a diabetic and 2 with problems processing fibre, so being able to have good tasting wholemeal fruit toast means it is on our breakfast menu more often

  • Sorry but we prefer the original raisin toast.

Not a fan of this one …the texture and taste was just not to our liking. It did how ever have plenty of plump fruit but the wholemeal flour we feel let this loaf down. We much prefer a fluffier texture with a light and sweet taste. We all seemed to have to put a topping on the toast which really defeated the purpose of this healthy loaf. Although I must admit I did quite enjoy the sprinkling of cinnamon I added.

  • Kids love it.

I was not chosen to review this product by MoM, but bought it for the kids anyway. I am not a fan of the sultanas, but they loved having their toast with a bit of difference. The fruit not only is healthy for them, but it breaks up the everyday monotony of plain toast. I would not buy this for every day though – just on occasion for something different.

  • I love this stuff

I believe this doesn’t just have to be a breakfast food. My kids and I love eating it at anytime of the day. My daughter loves it with honey and my crazy son eats it with butter, Vegemite and cheese. (he’s a crazy kid). I have also been known to put this fruit bread in the toastie toastie machine with mashed banana and honey inside. It is so delicious, and not doing my waist line any good.

  • Favourite in our house

My little boys LOvE toast and are of course obsessed with all things fruit. I tried this bread lightly toasted with butter and of course my little ones like usual were at my feet wanting mummy’s food.. I made them each a piece and they devoured it and asked for more. Needless to say they enjoy the tip top bread and I would recommend it to anyone else

  • Nice, but the kids reject it

I liked this, and was hoping the kids would too, but they said they much prefer the usual version. Maybe if I only bought his for a while they’d eventually come around though. I found it nicer with some sliced banana or other fruit on top (or jam or honey but I guess that undermines it being a healthier option!)

  • Healthy but lacking

I bought this because it a) sounded delicious and b) sounded healthy. I don’t know if maybe I got a bad loaf, but it was awful tasting. I expected it to be similar to raison bread but there was none of the flavour there. It was quite bland. I did enjoy the spices that could be tasted in it.
I would be willing to buy again and try it, to see if the first time I was unlucky.

  • I personally like it, but...

The kids, not so much. My little ones normally love fruit toast, in all of its glorious varieties, but they utterly hated this one. The texture is totally different to anything I’ve ever tried before, which is fine for adults, but for kids, it’s just too different from their comfort zone. I found the flavour to be very mild, which was ok, but the texture was a deal breaker for the kids. It can’t even be the wholemeal flour aspect, because my kids prefer wholemeal over white bread normally. So, if you’re an adult who doesn’t have ASD, I’d recommend you give this a go. Don’t expect it to be normal fruit toast, because it isn’t. But it is rather tasty for a quick, healthy breakfast or snack. 🙂

  • Tip Top Wholemeal with Fruit

I was wanting to try this after I saw it advertised for a while. I like the fact that it offers a healthy alternative to the usual raisin toast but at the same time, I kind of miss the sweetness of the original product! It is definitely a better option for kids though as they do not need any more sugar in their diets! It is more appealing than regular wholemeal bread as well.

  • Very Sustainable toast

My whole family has changed to wholemeal for a better diet and really glad that Tip Top finally has a wholemeal range when all the others are on white bread . This bread is thick and is tasty filled with fruits and raisons. In fact I am full after one slice of this toast and is more than sufficient at breakfast time. If you have a family that needs a thick healthy fruit loaf to start off in the morning , this is it . Highly recommend it .

  • Yummy

This is my first choice for raisin toast, it toasts perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I sometimes have a slice in the afternoon if I am feeling hungry. I like the yummy sweet taste of this bread which is just the right size, it doesnt have the orange peels or tangyness of other fruit loaves, so this is my first choice.

How to choose the best lunch box for school

When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.

  • Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

What to put in kids’ lunch boxes

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.

  • I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
