  • Full of Spice but super nice!

I have literally had to wait almost 6 weeks to finally be able to get my hands on this box of goodness. This should have been the first sign that they were going to be amazing. From the moment they began cooking, the aroma wafted throughout the house. My children were anticipating the completion of these goodies to finish cooking and with each minute the anticipation grew, The finished product did not disappoint. They were aromatic, moist and wonderfully fresh tasting. Each one had a burst of unique flavour and they were very “more-ish”. They were a huge hit and are already on our next shopping list!

  • Indian selection for the win

I loved the Indian selection, particularly the somasos, which were tasty little morsels of Indian yumminess. They were so quick and easy to prepare in the oven after getting home from a busy day at work. The pack includes onion and vegetable baji, while tasty, arent as delicious as the samosa! All in all, I’d say Woolworths, you totally nailed the Indian selection pack and will definitely be buying in future!!

  • Onion Bhajis are a versatile snack!

The Onion Bhajis in the Indian selection are a delicious and moreish snack, perfect either on their own, or served with side dishes, or even served as a side dish themselves with a main course. We had these as a side dish on our Indian curry night, and also put them on the table at a family BBQ, adding a bit of spice to our usual BBQ of chops and sausages!

  • Puts the Namaste into Indian convenience foods. So authentic!!

Mild enough for the most sensitive spicy critic and full of authentic flavours and textures. You could almost believe you made it from scratch yourself. But super fast cooking time and perfection just like the box promises. This one is a winner in the Woolies range and I would be happy to serve to my guests at any social gathering. It definitely ticks all the boxes.

We loved the Indian selection mix. We served them at a party and they were delicious enough for the adults to keep coming back and mild enough that the children didnt spit it out haha. It was a hit with everyone of all ages.

Unlike other frozen Indian food we have tried these snacks don’t taste like cardboard but are packed full of flavour but mild enough for our infant daughter. Affordable and quick to prepare on a busy day we will probably keep a box in the freezer to hit those Indian cravings within budget (we also love dinner at Indian restaurants)

I was very impressed with the flavour and product selection in the Indian selection. I would never have thought of purchasing these in the past but will certainly be purchasing them again.

At $5 they are a great find, they have the health star rating at 3.5 for the Vegetable Samosas and Onion Bhajis and 4 for the Vegetable Pakoras, no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives so are a healthy option There are packed in individual plastic packets so firstly the flavours do not mix before use and each individual packet tells you there may be present Crustacea, Eggs, Fish, Mils, Peanuts, Soybeans, Tree Nuts and Sesame Seeds which is a great reminder just in case you have guests that have food allergies.

  • Mmmmmmmm Samosas

Great overall product from price, quality and taste. The vegetable and onion selections were good but by gosh those samosas were fantastic! They were as good as any I’ve had from a takeaway recently, great flavour without being too hot for the kids to enjoy! If there was a box with just samosas available I’d buy them every shop (I’ll probably buy a box of these each shop anyway)!! Yum!

These are really nice. Quick and easy to heat up in my air fryer. The three different variety meant everyone in my family was happy. • Not a great introduction to Indian Food

As a new diner to Indian food I was very disappointed in this selection, the Samosas were the only item I could eat more than one of but are very spicy. The vegetable pokonas were sickly and I couldn’t finish even one. the Onion ones were ok but one was enough. For those who like this type of food, definitely good value for money.

I think these would be even better if the flavour was a little different between the samosas and pakoras, to me they tasted basically the same. These were really lovely. A nice selection of Indian tastes. They were also full of flavour without being too hot and spicy. Everyone enjoyed them immensely. • Not really my taste

I tried a selection of all three options, despite the fact that the onion bahja’s being something I wouldn’t usually eat.
They were quick and easy to prepare and tasted ok.
The samosas were the nicest in my opinion and the other 2 options were ok.
Not overly spicey which is good but still with plenty of flavour.
Would I buy them again? Probably not. It’s not so much about the product itself, they were ok. But it’s not the kind of food I would usually choose for finger food

How to choose the best lunch box for school

When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.

  • Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
  • Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
  • Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
  • Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
  • Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
  • The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:

  • Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
  • Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
  • Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
  • Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
  • Almond-meal slice with raspberries or blueberries – or both!
  • Vegetarian sausage rolls – these freeze well and make a great meat-free lunch when cold.

  • Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.

  • Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.

  • Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.

  • I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.

  • There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.

  • There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain

  • This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.

  • Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.

  • Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.

  • These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.

  • I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.

  • My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags

  • Love our bento b.boxes. So easy to pack. I do however worry that they’re made of plastic, not metal….

  • My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.

  • Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.

  • I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
