Salad Recipes that are delicious, nutritious and easy to put together are always a hit in our opinion!

Having a bunch of all time favourite salad recipes on hand is one great way to ensure that you and your family are fitting lots and lots of fresh ingredients into your diet.

Salad Recipes are also a great way to feed a crowd!

Over the years, hundreds of salad recipes have come into fashion and then thankfully left again (remember Marshmallow Salads!!) but there are some salad recipes that have stood the test of time.  Years and years on from when they were first created, they are still as popular as ever.

What was the first salad recipe ever created?

According to an article in the Huffington Post The Definitive History of Mankind’s Finest Food: The Salad the first salad appeared in the 1ST CENTURY! This was a bowl of raw leafy vegetables covered in a salty, oily dressing. (Indeed, the word salad comes from sal, the Latin word for salt.)

Obviously today the number of salad recipes that are available to us all – either to make at home or to buy straight from the supermarket shelf – defy belief.  But the original Roman version — the garden salad — still lives with us today, largely unchanged.

They pretty much go with anything and are so healthy. Another favourite of mine is the rainbow salad as it has so many different salad options in it.
