Try these simple and stylish ideas that will have you falling in love with your laundry and feeling at home in a fresh new space.

Let’s face it, the laundry is often the forgotten room of the house, but it doesn’t have to be. A luxe laundry might seem like something that only exists on Pinterest, but with these quick and easy tips, you can create a high-end room that will ensure you always #FeelGreatAtHome and have you looking for any excuse to do the washing!

Organise Your Space

Clutter is the enemy when it comes to creating a luxe laundry so organising your space is an easy way to give it an instant lift. Storage solutions don’t just have to be practical; woven baskets and linen storage boxes can bring a coastal touch to your laundry and hide less appealing items such as cleaning products and dirty washing. Once you have culled the clutter, having a clear worktop means that you can add cute containers for washing powder, pegs, and other laundry necessities that match your chosen style and add to the overall design of the space rather than being an unwelcome eyesore!

Refresh Your Surfaces

There’s nothing like a deep clean to give a space new life and when it comes to your laundry, you can’t beat sparkling tiles and immaculate surfaces. If the thought of tackling the layer of washing powder, fabric softener, and soap scum that covers your laundry floor feels impossible, however, the Vileda Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop is your new best friend to make you #FeelGreatAtHome. It even removes 99% of bacteria with just water*!

The mop has been smartly designed with a triangular mop head so you can easily reach corners and edges, and it also pivots, allowing for no-hassle cleaning under your laundry benches and around your washing machine and dryer. Best of all, the mop head is machine washable, and you can easily update and replace it with the Vileda refills each season – no need to purchase a brand new mop!

Simple Steps To Add Luxe To Your Laundry

Don’t Underestimate Scent

A beautiful laundry often brings up thoughts of sparkling surfaces, freshly washed clothing, and perhaps most importantly the crisp smell of washing powder. Unfortunately, the reality is that a laundry probably gets more use than most other rooms in the house, and, as a result, amidst the soapy freshness, there is the hint of unwashed socks and a less-than-clean washing machine threatening to fill the space. While your first step should be to clean your machine with an approved cleaner, including a scented diffuser in your space is a safe and easy way to maintain a beautiful-smelling laundry all year round. Think warm, fresh fragrances like vanilla, linen, and orange to keep things sophisticated and luxe.

Keep It Covered

If you have the option to tuck your washing machine, dryer, and storage shelves away, it’s definitely one worth taking if you wanted to give your laundry a streamlined feel. For those who feel floor-to-ceiling cupboard doors would close in their laundry room, consider rearranging your space to stack unsightly items on top of each other, minimising the amount of shelving needing to be covered.

Add Finishing Touches

Whether it’s a plant, a feature mirror, or statement piece of artwork, a laundry is one space where you can really experiment and have fun with interior accessories. Try to stick to a unifying theme when choosing accessories, and remember less really is more – a few stand-out pieces is all it takes to create a laundry space you will actually want to spend time in! A floating shelf is a great way to add space for styling that doesn’t impact the functionality of your laundry.

  • Being in a rental limits alot of my options, and as every non home owner in Australia will tell you – rental insecurity is real and us Tenants (despite some rights that we are “supposed” to have) do not want to risk our next rent renewal to be a non-renewal – thus I personally limit asking my LL for anything! Aka slight non permanent home altercations. So in my laundry I used some removable hooks and placed a wooden shelf above my sink and washer and this is where all my detergents, and baskets with the next load live up off the floor and makes for an airy feel!

  • Thanks for the tips. I have “luxed” up my laundry with a plant and a saying in a photo frame, and you are right, it does give it a warm feeling. It might even inspire me to get the iron out!!??! Oh, but not today!! Maybe tomorrow.

  • Oh my gawd! My laundry is the size of a postage stamp by the back door ,and all these suggestions are completely impractical to impossible, sadly! Already utilizing the space as efficiently as possible but you can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear!

  • I started my youngest early.
He loves school and has no issues.
Each child is different and the decision should be left up to the parents

  • Yes you are in the wrong. You should have gotten the milk. It is wrong to breast feed somone else’s baby without permission first. Your wife is probably so stressed looking after not just yours and her babies but someone else’s too. I would have been livid if anyone breastfed my baby without my permission. If this situation were to ever arise again, GET THE MILK!

  • My opinion is people tend to overlook their laundry when it’s comes to design, creativity, style and space. A lot of laundry’s I have been into are very messy and dull. I had my laundry refurbished to my style and it looks sensational (if I must say so). I love going into my laundry and just admiring it ❤️❤️

  • I have a big open laundry cupboard and putting large woven baskets on the shelves for towels, sheets etc made a huge difference. It looks so much neater now. I was going to get doors put on it but now I don’t feel like I need to.
