Hello!

I saw a friend of mine this week who i have not seen for 2 months and is going through chemo. I felt so bad as I did not recognise her. Her body had swollen she looked round and the shape of her face was different as it was all puffy. She was grey and needed sticks to help her walk as she was so weak. I felt so sorry for her yet could not help looking trying to remember what she used to look like. I really pray that all this treatment works and she will come through this a survivor. so sad.

  • Don’t let your fears keep you away. Help her. Make her meals, offer to go on a coffee date and treat her like a normal person, buy her flowers (she may have no appetite).

  • Yes it can effect you so much but you can also recover looking like your old self.

  • For some people the chemo is as / more punishing as the cancer itself is. Sometimes chemo is given simply to keep sufferers comfortable. Regardless, the lady needs your support, even if you only make short visits. You could probably help her around her house by doing chores for me, washing, cooking etc.

  • Chemo is a very tough road to travel.

  • Sorry to hear – this incredibly difficult and your friend needs your unconditional love and support during this journey.

  • So terrible. The husband of a friend of mine is going through the same now. It’s so hard on your body. Positive thoughts to all the people going through chemio now.

  • Chemo is so very aggressive, as is cancer. Such a difficult time – I hope she pulls through. Don’t feel bad that you didn’t recognise her – just be strong and be there for her as that what she needs most.

  • It’s also difficult for people who look unchanged, though; it’s hard for people to believe how sick they are.
