My husband moves quite a bit with his job. So my kids are now on there third school all three in different states! I have had on kid start in prep in qld one in kindergarten in Nsw and now one in reception in south aus. What is the point in each state being so different! It’s crazy! School work is also different! We are one country why can’t we have the one educational system it’s so confusing for kids and parents too!!!!!!

  • I agree with you, the whole school system should be Aust wide not state by state, they are supposed to be working on bringing it all together – won’t hold my breath waiting.

  • it is quite silly to have different schooling systems

  • I totally agree that it should be standard for the entire country – but so should a few things (like rego)!

  • As an ex-Army brat (4 primary schools and 2 high schools in 3 different states) and an ex-teacher (I’m now a SAHM), I know first-hand your frustrations. The Federal Government have tried to introduce a standardised curriculum across the country, but there have been hiccups galore in its introduction. Unfortunately, until the bureaucrats start actually listening to those on the ‘front lines’, rather than deciding how and what should be taught in our schools (with the last time they’d entered a classroom being when they were at school themselves), this problem will not go away.
All I can suggest is that if you feel that your children are falling behind, get a tutor. Most tutors are either Educations students, or past/current teachers.

  • Yep is hard to believe but there must be some political reason behind these. Even cars need to be re-registered or some sort when you gone to a different state even tho is the same country…. I find that amusing coming from overseas.
