Christmas Holiday - Real Mum story on MoM

This is the first Christmas in the past 7 years where we wont be spending it with the entire side of my husbands family. We now have to travel 10 hours to spend with my husbands parents. For one year would just love it to be me, my husband and our children. My husband thinks I am selfish but I dont see it that way. Have not spent one christmas with my family. Just wish it wasnt all about his family. But I am going to enjoy Christmas like every other year. Cant wait, in a week we are giving our kids their presents from us early as we dont have the room to pack everything.

That’s not selfish at all, I know how u feel and he should, be decent enough and start thinking of u more and not just about him and he’s side of the family

He needs to see it from your point of view. Explain how that you understand why he feels that you are being selfish as you are depriving him of his family during Christmas time, but tell him that it has been like that for you for seven years and all you want is one year for yourself.
My little family and I, travels 5 hours away to visit my partners parents just before Christmas and return on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas day with my family. My partner and I compromise for each other and our families otherwise it would cause conflict.

Hi Hun there is no way ur being selfish on this. My family all live 4hrs away from me and I dnt drive which makes things a but hard iv always invited my family for xmas at mine so I’m not having to go to there’s every yr but they arnt willing to do that so last yr I made the choice that I was nolonger going to them for Xmas it’s Nw just my son and I at home with our 4 kitties for Xmas every yr nw as I see it if there wanting to spend cams with u they r willing to do some traveling them selves for it not make u travel every yr

Hey hun! Does your side of the family live far? Have you guys ever spent Xmas or Xmas Eve with your side of the family? I think your family deserve some time with yas too. Yes, it is a bit unfair that just one side of the family get to spend time with yas. I don’t spend Xmas with my dad anymore, coz he Moved to Sydney and we live in Melbourne. So only time I spent Xmas with him was when we were there in 2011, til we were able to move into our new Melbourne home. We always lived in Melbourne, btw. My dad moved to Sydney when mum passed away in 2009. We usually spend Xmas with my husband’s brother , SIL and their children and her mum. This year, unsure if we are spending it with em or not. Maybe will be just the 4 of us this year. I prefer to spend it with them too….
