Hello!

It’s been a few years now since Mum passed away and a couple longer than that for my Nan’s passing. It’s hard without them around and I miss them so much that sometimes I need to comfort myself with reminders of them. The best one for this is the food reminder. Unfortunately I never got to write down the recipes Mum and Nanna used for most things so can only do what I remember which is mostly the simple stuff like Mum’s pasta and Nan’s Casserole. The puddings and cakes recipes are only memories now, which is pretty sad as these were delicious, homemade, good old fashioned recipes that stood the test of time and a massive extended family, such a shame. I really do wish I had spent the time sitting down and getting Mum and Nanna to tell me the recipes so I could record them properly. I’ve asked various cousins and Aunties but I didn’t get much feedback other than the packet mixes are cheaper and just as good – umm no they aren’t! I encourage you all to keep a Family Recipe Book going. It’s an idea that never came to me until too late ;)

  • I too wish I had of started a family recipe book. I am now collecting my partners grandmothers recipes as I missed out on doing so with my own grandmother

  • I’ve started a family recipe book because I found the same thing had happened to me! I’m an avid cook and love creating recipes so hopefully mine will live on!
