I’m not sure what you guys think, but work place bullies can make life hell. I have just left a role I have had for eighteen months and my bosses were utter cows. Nit pickers, do what I say, not what I do, and so negative and mean… I now work for the same Council, but with a passionate, motivated and very supportive Boss and am feeling my confidence build every day. No longer do I have to ask to go to the loo, be afraid to leave my desk, or wonder where the next negative comment is coming from. I am so very blessed to work for my new Boss, and he has such belief in me and my abilities. Thank goodness for my new lease on life x

  • I have just finished a semester at uni and one of courses WHS had a section focusing on this issue! When it comes to workplace bullying 80% of it comes from the boss(es). This is awful! Glad to hear your in a better and much happier place!

  • at least you are at a better workplace now….

i don’t mean to sound like i wanted to tear down females so no offence to anyone! I should have written my comment better as women are AMAZING! We do tend to gossip a little more whereas men don’t really care about what Susan thinks of her husband lol.

    • yep – a little power and not enough training and they are yucko!

  • So nice for you. People can really make so much difference in our life. Negative people drag you down. Positive people keep you happy and motivated.

  • It can be hard to see some bullies, too… Ver insidious.

  • Bullies and bullying does need to be addressed in workplaces and schools and everywhere!

    • yep – there are no filters anymore on behaviour, and that is so sad

  • Yes workplace bullies do make the place like hell. Even if you complain it goes against you and never worked out. Talking loud enough. Different disciplines. Asking how does she get away from it. Well now she had a heart operation and my husband looks after the grandkids.

  • Well done for being able to stay in the same organization to work but in a different role. You must be so much happier and more relaxed. Enjoy your new found sense of ease at work

  • I have worked for two women like you have described. The sad thing is that it seems to be more often women than men who make our lives miserable in the workplace. I am glad you have moved on and wish you the best of luck!

    • yeah sadly i agree! male bosses are focused on the job and females pick at you for your appearance, your clothes, your make-up! I am a hairdresser and my first boss changed my hair colour, told me to wear MORE make-up (she had horrible over-done make-up), picked on my pants length! (i am short so EVERY pair of pants is long on me). I was always there at work first and then she refused to do certain services like tracks (which were mega popular), refused to do colours like pink etc and therefore lost A LOT of business. Wasn’t training the staff or letting us go to tafe to fulfill that side of our apprenticeship. I had to leave and go somewhere else and then i was learning cutting etc instead of just being my old boss’s tea and tidy gal!

      • I personally do not think it is gender related, it can be across the spectrum.

      • yeah, hear all of what you are saying, but they are bitches! a little power and god help everyone… at my age, I did not expect that in the workplace
