Hello!

I am not coping with this heat wave in Melbourne. Today has been a struggle as I’ve had dizzy spells for the past day and today and just keep drinking water to try to combat it. We’ve had problems with our electricity bill and I’ve been trying to not have the air con running all day as it is an old clunky power sucking one. I’ve been keeping our daughter cool with luke warm bath time fun but she hasn’t been sleeping well and is quite grumpy. It has been hard to stomach the idea of food and today my husband is home and has been making salads. He doesn’t mind the heat (he mows the lawn when it is 40 degrees and seems to enjoy it!). He has been calm in the hot kitchen making fresh, crunchy refreshing coleslaw, filling yummy potato salad and my daughter’s favourite pasta salad. I’ve had time to sit and relax, drink my ice water and read through MoM and it doesn’t seem as hot :)

  • Lucky you, great hubby! I used to live in WA, didn’t notice the heat, then I moved to Tas. Now when I visit WA I do it in Winter to avoid the heat. I can’t stand it now and it’s even harder to cope with because of living in cooler Tas. It is so draining

  • those heat waves nearly did my head in, the aircon never got a chance to be turned off, and the power bill ended up nearly as high as the temp

  • You need to drink something other than water – your electrolites need replacing – try some gatorade or similar to help with the dizzies.
