As a parent I never thought I would be taking my Miss 3 to the dentist for a filling, I felt I had let her down as a parent. She had never had a Chuppa Chup or anything like that so I was determined to find out why, and what can I do to help her in the future. I was surprised to learn grapes could of helped cause this hole. So my tip for other Mums while giving there toddlers grapes (as they are super yum) make sure they have plenty of water on hand to wash them down. Miss 3 now also has an electric toothbrush!!

  • I know exactly how you feel
I was shocked when the dentist said my 6 yr old needed a filling
He only gets lollies at bday parties etc
we eat quite well and i was surprised to hear the grapes thing also
and the muesli bars is the cause also!
    Brush brush brush

  • i too recently took my 5 year old to the dentist which resulted in a filling i was devastated having bed teeth myself one thing ive always done is care for my children’s teeth, he had food that had been stuck between his teeth that caused it to decay we now floss his teeth. I know how you feel i felt so horrible like a bad mother!

  • My nephew too had to get a filling at a young age due to eating so much fruit!

  • Don’t feel bad, I was four when I had my first tooth extracted! I hated lollies and chocolates and would spit them out and sweet stuff never interested me and now my Dentist tells me I have lovely teeth (for a person of my age – lol).

  • Many fruits have more sugar in them than lollies just get in the habit of a quick brush even after a snack but I also put all my kids floride tablets to give them a boost
