It’s that time of week! The junk mail is here! I love sitting down with a cuppa and looking through all the catalogues. I don’t usually buy anything, I just like looking through them. It’s like going shopping, without leaving the comfort of your home. Oh, and of course ocassionaly, there really is a great bargain to be had!

  • For those of you who hate getting junk mail, you can buy a special sticker and put it on your letterbox. That way you only get the ones that Aust. Post is paid to deliver. I love getting them as I get to know normal prices and prices per 100gr or litre. I can work out easily which size is best value if I am planning to buy the item. You can compare prices of different stores. What really irks me is when something you buy regularly and you wait until it is on special again if you can, you buy it on special and they lower the price even more the following week.

  • Lol! I thought I was the only one! :D Hubby gets so annoyed with me when he walks into the room and I’ve got brochures spread out across the entire dining table top! LOL! I love it! I hate shopping IRL so this is a great way to feel like I’ve done something girly, without having to leave the comfort of my own home. Plus, it doesn’t cost any money either! :D

  • I’m the total opposite…..it gets put in the recycle bin and doesn’t even make it inside the house.

  • I don’t mid a bi of junkman but it has become truly ridiculous the amount that comes to my mailbox. I could almost fill the wheelie bin at times and I rarely read any of it. I just like to check the weekly specials before I do my grocery shopping but anything else I can see on line if I want something. I can’t help but feel for the trees and see what a wasteful society we have become.

  • I do enjoy my time out with junk mail.

  • A good purpose for old ‘junk mail’ catalogues is for school projects. Schools love to receive catalogues for a range of activities as the pictures are often large and the paper is easy to cut too.

  • I must agree! I also do it to compare the specials for groceries and then purchase from the cheapest for that week. It may result to visiting different supermarkets but I save quite a lot and I am lucky enough to have the supermarkets next to each other so am not wasting petrol costs and time either

  • You’re not alone – I tell my husband that it means I know what things cost when I actually need to buy something.

  • I am the opposite; I don’t like it as it used to overflow from the mailbox! I look at online catalogues instead! :)
