Hello!

I have the most amazing parents that myself and my girls look up to, actually all our friends.

Last night I got a call from Mum saying they were driving down to visit my older sister in Albany in the morning, 5 hours away for 4 days and not to worry if I couldn’t get in touch or if I came over and they didn’t answer the door. They are 83 and 86 and both renew their drivers license every year with strict guidelines.

I am blessed they still get out even for coffee every day from their retirement village to DOME, play marjong 3 times a week and contribute to fund-raising charities monthly by making things.

My parents/my childrens grandparents are family icons and my goal is to be the same. Everyone stay alive mentally and keep in touch with family daily, even if you think they don’t care.

  • I’m so glad that the birth of my little one means an easy excuse to ‘pop’ around for a visit. It’s great to stay in touch. I’m lucky that they live locally. Others are not so fortunate.

  • I believe in always touching base with the family, we try to have get togethers once a week x

  • An active mind and an interest in others helps to keep a person going. Good on your parents for helping others. They are certainly a good example of what is possible when you don’t give in to old age. And keeping in touch with family is so important, as I’d rather live with memories after someone is gone, than live with regrets.

  • I have learnt the value of family more and more since I have had my son, and particularly since I went through some hardship that they helped me with and were and continue to be a great support.
