My husband and I have a gorgeous 4 year old daughter and have been trying for the last 2 years to give her a bother or sister but it dosent seem to be happening. We are seeing a fertility doctor and doing everything we can to give us a better chance of falling pregnant to no avail. It upsets me when i constantly get asked “when are you having your next, your leaving it a bit late. I get tired of explaining the situation over and over, and now my daughter has picked up on this and keeps asking when she will have a baby sister to play with. Not only does it upset me, it also makes me angry because its mine and my husbands choice on how many children we have, and if we make the choice to stop trying, it really is our choice.

I agree with telling people you only want one.
It will help take the pressure off

Wow I think many mums go through the ‘are you having anymore?’ question plus lots of other silly and inappropriate questions. They wouldn’t say what my first was going to be until about 30 weeks because he wouldn’t stop moving for scans. People kept asking ‘do you want a boy or girl?’ Hello it is what it is so theirs no point wanting one or the other. With your fertility problem I’m sure you’ve tried lots of different ways but I would just say ‘we will when we’re ready’ and leave it that. If people keep persisting which they always do I would be a lot blunter. A lot of people just don’t think about how rude, invasive and unwanted their comments and questions are.
