Your blankie lays upon the lounge,
Your pillow’s on the bed,
I stare off blankly into space,
My hand goes to gently pat your head.

I think of all the times we’ve shared,
The laughter and the love,
You truly are a precious gift,
Sent from Heaven above.

It’s time now for your tablets,
And then you’ll want your tea,
And maybe we’ll go walkies then,
My little dog and me.

As I walk into the kitchen,
And I reach out for your bowl,
I look around to see you,
My Light, my Love, my Soul.

But you’re not there,
I cannot see your sweet and loving face,
You’re gone but not forgotten,
And no other dog can take your place.

Your tiny little paws
Left eternal foot-prints on my heart,
I tell myself, no matter what,
We’re never far apart.

The tears fall freely – I miss you so,
Thoughts of life without you fill me with dread,
Then I smile as I remember your unconditional love,
And my hand goes to gently pat your head.
