Earlier this week one of my work mates passed away although I did not spend a lot of time with him , I saw him everyday , he was 64 years and I’m not sure why it came as such a shock he was very thin and did not particularly look after himself spend all his money on gambling and drinking ( we had all tried to help him stop gambling but I guess going home to an empty house was to hard) , he was a lonely man who did not get along with his family since his wife passed a long time ago. I have feel sorry for him for a long time , as I was left wondering who would be at his funeral no family it sadden my greatly , then after speaking to his boss and finding out that he being the boss would pay for and arrange the funeral and the wake I feel great relief , making me believe in the generosity of some people again. Just though someone might relate to this !!

Post your story
  • Wow that is truly beautiful, I hope your work colleague realised that he was cared for. The generosity of the human spirit goes a long way

  • sad to say goodbye

  • That is a very nice thing your boss did.

  • My neighbour told me a similar story where all the workers chipped in to help pay for funeral costs. Kind and generous people still do exist.

  • Wow your boss sounds like a great person! And the fact that you too have been worrying shows that you have a kind soul. His life would have been better for having you guys in it

  • How sad to end a life like that – very kind of your boss, though.

  • That’s lovely of your Boss xx

  • A kind and thoughtful act by your boss.
Also; it is natural to feel sadness at this loss; look after each other. :)

    • Also; check in with our other work mates; they may be feeling the same way?

  • That is a lovely story your boss is a caring thoughtful person.
