Hello!

I just wanted to share a little personal victory! Last year I was diagnosed with depression and severe anxiety and (all due to a nasty and violent relationship) and one of the big things they said is exercise! Now during this stage all I wanted to do was hide under the covers and sleep my days away and the thought of exercise sent me into a panic attack…

Just last week my dad said common lets do this together! So we started every morning at 6am going for a 4km walk…for the first few days I was buggered and my shins killed!

Yesterday as a family we went to the markets and dad told me that oh by the way, we are going to walk home while the others take the car! I had a mild anxiety attack thinking I cannot walk that far home!!! It was about 2 – 3 suburbs away! But off we went! We power walked the whole way home and I thought on many occasions my legs were going to come out from underneath me and I would be on the ground but by supporting each other we power walked the 9kms home!

This is a massive victory for me and as we get fitter actually we are going to add more exercises and length. Without the support around me I wouldn’t have been able to do it. It is a wonderful feeling getting fit and healthy! I haven’t felt this good in awhile!

  • I’m so impressed you’ve had the motivation to continue early morning excercise, depression/anxiety or not. That takes a lot of effort and you should be so proud. You’ve inspired me to go for a walk one day this week, one step at a time right:) mine will probably be a bit later in the day though! But I know I always cops better when I’ve moved my body. Thanks for sharing your victory

  • Congrats! Anxiety can be the worst and there’s many different reason behind it, so it’s good you know why you’re suffering from anxiety and can now treat it. :)
