While parenting is a deeply personal experience, it doesn’t stop our decisions being scrutinised (and often criticised) by others.
Whether it’s choosing between breast and bottle feeding, natural birth and c-sections, staying at home or returning to work, parenting can be a minefield.
The need for the outside world to weigh-in on our decisions has been addressed in an ad by Similac, a baby formula brand, with many calling it one of “the most honest ads ever about parenting.”
Normally we wouldn’t run an ad, but it’s message is so primal and so important to who we are as mums, we’re in tears.
Similac also released a statement to explain the intentions behind the ad, posting:
“We believe it’s time to embrace mothers who choose to embrace motherhood. Time to put down the fingers and the subtle suggestions.
“Because no two of us are the same, but we’re all in this together. The sisterhood has only one rule — nourish each other the same way we nourish our children.
“And, just like the sister who’s got your back, we’re there to help you get through the first few days and months of motherhood with confidence — and zero judgment. The way it should be.”
