Moving house can be stressful!

The packing, the moving, the cleaning, mail changes, the transferring of utilities all adding up to a very stressful situation.

I have moved house 3 times this year and, I’m not ashamed to admit, one of the first things I sort out is a to do list.

With a little planning, you can avoid most of the stresses that moving to a new home can bring.

After 3 years experience with my removals and deliveries business it has taught me that preparation is the key to a successful move.

After liaising with the estate agent, solicitor and removals company, you also need to remember notifying your utility companies, health care providers and work (so you can have time off), plus other smaller incidentals such as re-directing your post.

Simply follow the moving house checklist and you will have the entire ‘to-do’s’ all done.

Then you can sit back and relax and let the removals team do the hard work.

  • We are looking like facing this horrid task after being in our house for 12 years. De-cluttering is a haunting task also.

  • I hate moving, I have moved three times in my life, once from my childhood home, so not much to move, to my marital home, we separated so I moved, again with minimal things, then I moved from my own home to the city, I had removalists, but 15 years later I still have boxes I have not unpacked, I think I should just throw them out, but one day I am going to go thru them LOL, but I would seriously hate the idea of moving from here now, I have raised 5 teenagers here and they have moved on now as adults, but most have left their junk for storage!! so it would certainly be a challenge, I don’t think any amount of lists would really help me!!

  • My best tip is pay someone to pack your stuff. Make sure the boxes have which room they came from on them.

  • I do all of these things. Although I usually forget to defrost the fridge/ freezer or drain the washing machine. There’s always so much to do, I find moving super stressful.
I’ve never had a removalist, maybe that makes all the difference.
