Hello!

I can spend hours getting inspired by gorgeous interiors and stylish scatter cushions on social media but then I take one look at my toy-infested place and I can’t help feeling disheartened. But it is possible to achieve a Pinterest worthy home, even with a horde of messy children, and it doesn’t actually take as much effort as you would think.

I find that the way my home looks directly influences my mood. If the kids have been on a wild LEGO bender and the place looks like a tip, I’m grumpy. But if I channel the essence of a Pinterest worthy home, and get the whole family involved in a regular spring clean, I’m just so much happier.

A Good Looking Home Makes Us Feel Great!

And it seems that I am not the only one. A recent survey showed that 76 per cent of Aussies said the style of their home was important to their happiness and individuality. But style isn’t only about furniture or classy design, it’s about first impressions. A Pinterest worthy home is one that is, above all, sparkling, clean and fresh.

Attaining a Pinterest worthy home seems almost impossible when you’re a busy mum juggling kids, work, school and chores. But we’ve put together some simple tips that make achieving an enviable living space well within your reach.

Top Tips For A Pinterest Worthy Home

1) Make Your Floors Sparkle

From my journey through thousands of Pinterest home design boards, I’ve noticed one thing. The most-desired homes are sparkling clean, with gleaming floors and grunge-free surfaces. So my top tip of how to achieve your Pinterest worthy home is actually really simple and certainly won’t blow the bank. It’s all about those crucial first impressions, which you can achieve by giving your floors and surfaces a good clean. Even if your space is more cluttered than you’d ideally like, a spotlessly clean floor will make even a busy-looking room appear calm and serene.

I’m a massive fan of the Vileda Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop. Seriously mums, don’t waste your time or your money on any other mop – this one is the royalty of all mops and has never let me down. I love that the Vileda Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop removes over 99% of bacteria* with just water, so that you can be confident your sparkling floors are also as clean as can be.

The Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop head is made up of millions of tiny synthetic fibres, and when used with water, all of these tiny fibres loosen and physically pick up dirt and bacteria. There is no need to use harsh chemicals to get a thorough clean.

This high-performance mop is top quality with super absorbent 100%-microfibre white strings, combined with red powerfibres for advanced cleaning power and superior dirt pick up.

You can use this mop on all hard floor surfaces, including delicate surfaces, like parquets and laminate and you can easily buy refills when its time to update and replace your mop head.

So forget designer throw cushions or costly rugs, the best tip to achieve your Pinterest Worthy home is to get the Vileda Easy Wring & Clean Turbo Spin Mop. This mop is unsurprisingly the #1 Spin Mop in Australia and its superior performance is gleamingly visible after every clean.

2) Fresh is Best

Another simple way to elevate your living space to a Pinterest worthy home is to pick out some gorgeous fresh flowers and greenery and add some elements of nature to your interior. A tall vase of gorgeous lilies or tastefully arranged indoor pot plants can make all the difference. It will give your home an instant feeling of freshness and make your living space look like it’s popped straight off the pages of a design magazine.

3) Cull the clutter

This one is easier said than done – especially when you’ve got a gaggle of kids creating chaos in the living room. The best way to reduce clutter is to organise your home with strategic storage solutions. Hide away toys, board games and craft in storage boxes and keep all that clutter off the floor. If you can’t see it, it’s not there.

4) Keep things bright, light and airy

A Pinterest worthy home is often basking with light. White walls and sunlight can lift up even the drabbest of rooms. So focus on ways to make your home brighter. Paint the walls white, open the windows and let some natural light in.

5) Style it up…simply

Use Pinterest for inspiration and style-up your coffee table, counters and bookshelves with items that suit your taste. Of course, if you have young kids, stay away from breakable ornaments and keep fragile keepsakes well out of reach. Don’t go overboard and remember that less is often more. Pick out a coffee table book, perhaps a family photo album, some candles and flowers and you’re well on your way.

6) Design the walls

Fashion your walls with artwork that reflect your style. It’s best to keep things simple and don’t go crazy with trying to fill up every empty space with a picture. It’s more effective to create one gallery wall rather than having bits and pieces of art scattered throughout the house. To create your own gallery wall, select a few of your favourite artworks, place the biggest piece as the focal point in the centre and then work your way outwards. You can use this technique with family photos too.

It\’s a shame and this Target was one of the first to open in SA nearly 50 years ago. Support your local Target while you still have it.
