Siblings don’t always react to new babies the way we want them to and this dog was no exception!

Watch this dog’s funny reaction to the introduction of the baby’s smell before it even comes home!

What did your pet think when you introduced it to to the new addition?

  • OK it’s a new baby, but I’m feeling a bit ill.

  • Oh dear, the dog doesn’t seem overly enthusiast ! I don’t like a dog nearby a baby much.

  • No way I would have a dog or cat near a newborn.

  • Thats a really odd reaction i would like to see what happened after this if the dog became unwell as its not generally a response to a smell. I did find it rather amusing though lol.

  • I know a family dog who never touched any of the children while they were babies. She would walk near them and sniff in the air and wag her tail. If the baby cried after a sleep she would have to walk in the room, see the baby for herself and walk out of the room again. They never had to tell her go out. If you didn’t let her in the room she would whimper and freak out. She is very cautious of going to near to them until they are big enough to run around and play ball together. As a small toddler they were taught to play gently with the dog. They would all sit on the floor together, parents included. She has growled a couple of times when one of them have accidentally trodden on her but she has never snapped at them at all. When visitors go there she gets a bit excited with some adults but is gentle with other children too. Now, she is an old dog so we keep a close watch on her when people she doesn’t know visit. She knows by the tone of our voices if it’s somebody we know and it’s Ok. She will bark with what we call an unhappy as though warning the person to stay away. She is very loyal and protective of her family and those she knows are accepted by the family.

  • Poor dog, he really did react badly! I remember asking my daughter if you want to take your sister home, or give the baby to aunty, she said give her to aunty!

  • Pretty sure this dog wasnt reacting to the new baby! We didn’t have pets when our kids were babies, so didn’t have to worry about pet reaction. I might not sure if I would let a dog near my newborns anyway, you just cannot 100% predict what a dog will do
