Kids are always hungry and at a party they seem to consume an enormous amount of food. I like to serve a mixture of healthy and some treats too; after all it is a party.

I’ve compiled a list of 10 easy and fun party food ideas to make your party planning easy.

1. Watermelon jelly

Buy half a watermelon and remove the watermelon to serve at the party. Then use the skin as a bowl for jelly and put in the fridge to set and cut and serve as jelly slices!

2. Pancake and fruit skewers

Make mini pancake and fruit skewers – add nutella for a less healthy version.

3. Homemade sugar free marshmallows

Reduce the sugar intake and make your own sugar free marshmallows.

4. Vegemite and cheese pastries

3 ingredient easy yummy pastries – puff pastry, vegemite and cheese.

5. Fruity icy poles

Puree up your favourite fruit and make colourful healthy icy poles.

6. Teddy cars

I’ve made these with milky ways and they’ve been a big hit with both the kids and the adults.

7. Fruit lollypops

These pureed and dehydrated fruit lollypops will have the kids happy and the parents too, as they are much healthier than the bought ones.

8. Chicken nuggets

Easy chicken nuggets that are healthy and tasty, using lean chicken breasts.

9. Sausage rolls

Kids love sausage rolls and these are yummy and easy.

10. Easy pizzas

  • I went to a first birthday party not long back. The birthday cake was made from a watermelon, carved into a cake shape and decorated with bits of fruit. The birthday girl was very happy

  • Nice ideas. We always add chocolate balls or homemade raw chocolate and I often bake multiple types of cakes (apple crumble with greek yoghurt, banana coconut bread, a healthy cheesecake, etc). And we love to serve several types of nuts, chunks of cheese, roma tomate, slices of cucumber, olives and gurken and not to forget cut up boiled egg.
