Going on holiday over the summer period is the perfect way to spend quality time with family or friends, but with all the added pressures of the festive season, a family holiday at this time of year needs to be all about simplicity. Here are 10 quality holiday parks for a true-blue family getaway plus the cheat sheet for planning that holiday…
Holidays are a fun and essential part of a healthy family life. While planning the perfect getaway for you and your family, consider the following tips to ensure your holiday runs as smoothly as possible and that everyone has a fabulous time!

1. Look for the T-QUAL Tick
Make sure your family getaway lives up to your expectations by looking for the T-QUAL Tick when making your booking. The T-QUAL Tick is the Australian Government’s national symbol of tourism quality. It represents businesses that have undergone rigorous assessment to ensure they deliver a quality experience. Look for the T-QUAL Tick and rest assured the getaway you choose will provide you and your family with a quality holiday experience.

2.     Start planning early
It’s never too early to start planning your ideal family getaway, particularly as holidaying with children means many more things to pack! The more time that you can pre-plan and organise the less stressed you will feel in the lead up.
Try preparing in advance with a checklist of things to pack, activities to organise and a budget. Once again, don’t forget to look for the T-QUAL Tick as it will help you to make informed choices and easily identify Australia’s quality tourism accommodation and services making the holiday planning process quicker and easier.

3.     Remember holidays are for both parents and kids
Going on a family holiday shouldn’t mean running after the kids the entire time. For some much deserved rest and relaxation, look into babysitting options or activities that will keep the kids busy and safe while you sit back and relax.
Currently, there are over 10,000 T-QUAL endorsed tourism operators around Australia so you’re certain to find a quality selection that suits the type of holiday you’d like.

4.     Plan activities the whole family will enjoy
An active holiday will sustain a child’s interest so it is helpful to look into what activities – free and paid – your holiday location has to offer ahead of time. Don’t forget to plan some activities that you can do as a family such as collecting shells on the beach, attending the local markets, dolphin or whale watching cruises, or simply enjoying some of the free facilities at your place of accommodation. If stuck for inspiration, visit the T-QUAL Hub at TripAdvisor to view T-QUAL endorsed experience providers that can offer your family with some quality fun and excitement.

5.     Seek out reviews and recommendations
Chatting to your friends and peer groups for holiday inspiration, recommendations and feedback from their own experiences is always helpful and will ensure you get the most out of your trip.
Researching reviews of specific facilities and activities through online sites such as TripAdvisor ensures that you receive honest and informative insights about your destination ahead of time.

CRVA Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Lamont, says the T-QUAL Tick allows travellers to enjoy great family holidays without sacrificing peace of mind.
“The real value to holidaymakers is assurance the property they’ve chosen to spend their time and hard-earned dollars on will offer a safe and quality holiday experience. Australians love the caravanning and camping lifestyle as it allows them to get away from their daily routine, rediscover nature and reconnect with family,” he says.

  • Thanks so much for this article. My hubby and I have been putting off going on holidays till our youngest is 3. Still have two years to wait. In that time we have our honeymoon, but, even then we were thinking about taking the kids with us.

  • We like holiday parks right on the beachfront with lots of water sports. I like to hire their equipment and try different things. Koala Shores Caravan Park Lemon Tree Passage NSW is a great spot. Fishing is great for kids. Mine caught a fish in minutes just off the beach right at the caravan park. Big pool, Giant Jumping Cushion, canoe, kayak and Paddle boat hire and tennis courts, pedal go kart hire, putt putt golf and kids club. Perfect!
