Toothpaste isn’t just for cleaning your pearly whites, there are so many more uses that might amaze you!

We all know it whitens and brightens but did you know toothpaste also has amazing cleaning qualities. Here are some different uses for the humble toothpaste:

1. Cleaning shoes

Kids and dirt seem to go hand in hand. If you’re child seems to always have dirty shoes just squirt some toothpaste on the shoes and rub clean with a cloth or old toothbrush – prepare to be amazed.

2. Clean your car lights

To clean dirt off the lights on your car put some toothpaste on a wet cloth and wipe them down.

3. Whiten up those piano keys

Are those keys looking a little discoloured? Using a thin layer of white toothpaste buff the piano keys then wipe off the residue with a cloth that has been dampened slightly with milk. Make sure to dry immediately with a cloth and rub till it shines.

4. Polish tarnished silver

No need to buy special silver cleaner. After slightly wetting the item rub a small amount of toothpaste onto the silver making sure to keep it wet. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then wash away the paste and let it dry. Depending on how tarnished it is you may need to repeat the process.

5. Do you have foggy swimming goggles?

Toothpaste creates a thin film inside the goggles that helps prevent them from fogging up. Just add a small amount of toothpaste on the inside of the goggle, wipe it around then buff it out with a cloth.

6. Remove ink stains

If you find you have some ink stains on your clothes just add some toothpaste to the area, let it dry and wash the next day.

7. Remove water spots on your table

A white toothpaste can even remove water spots on wood caused by glasses. Just rub a small amount directly onto the ring caused by the water stain. Make sure not to scrub or rub too hard.

8. Remove stains on your skin from hair dye

Does your hair dye leave a stain along your hairline and on your hands? Apply a small amount of toothpaste onto the area. Spread the toothpaste evenly over the stained area and rub for 30-60 seconds in a circular motion. Then rinse with warm water until all the toothpaste has gone.

9. Soothe mosquito bites

Spread some toothpaste around the bite and let it dry. Do not remove the toothpaste as the bite will continue to itch. Just let it dry and the paste will fall off in bits.

10. Remove rug stains

Rub toothpaste onto the stain on your carpet preferably with a brush then rinse.

11. Remove tea cup stains

Sometimes dishwashing liquid isn’t enough to remove tea and coffee stain in your cups. Squeeze a small amount of whitening toothpaste onto the area, give it a brush then rinse.

12. Clean your phone screen

Add a small dab of toothpaste to your mobile phone screen and polish clean.

13. Help clear up pimples

Add a small amount of toothpaste to the area and leave overnight.

14. Clean your iron

How annoying can it be when you are in a rush and the iron leaves dirty marks on your nice clean shirt. Make sure the iron is off and completely cool. Then rub some white toothpaste onto the plate of the iron then wipe off with a damp cloth.

15. Soothe a minor burn

If you have a minor burn that doesn’t have an open would then toothpaste can help ease that stinging feeling. After the affected area has been in luke warm water apply a thick coat of the non gel toothpaste to the burn and leave it on until the skin feels cool and the stinging feeling has gone. Make sure after you remove the toothpaste you apply something to help heal the burn.

16. Remove chewing gum from hair

Cover the area with toothpaste and let it be. Over time the toothpaste will break down the sugar in the gum and the gum will loosen up and come away from the hair.

17. Help remove scratches on leather

To help remove leather scratches and scuffs dab some toothpaste onto a soft cloth and rub the area. Make sure to wipe clean with a damp cloth.
