Rainy days are a bummer, kids get trapped inside all day and go stir crazy! We’ve all been there, you rack your brain for ideas but for the life of you can’t come up with anything fun to do at all.

Well, here are seven fun things you can do with your kids on rainy days!

1.  Make a couch fort

Forts are a staple of being a kid, and couches are the best building materials. Help your kids to build couch forts by using blankets, pillows, and stands. Build them a mini interconnected city and name the rooms you build. Your kids can even create their own rules and laws in their make believe world!

2. Teach your kids to bake

Baking is a pastime that nearly all kids enjoy. You get to lick the spoon, and eat delicious baked goods at the end of the day. Teach you kids the proper usage of an oven, and how eggs, butter, milk and flour can create a cake. Give them the tools to create something delicious, and don’t be afraid to deviate from the recipe!

3. Watch a family movie… as a family!

Set up some pillows and make yourself nice and comfy and watch a movie together. Eat the cookies that you have made, grab some popcorn and bond over a movie. Don’t let your kids sit in their room watching TV, make it a family activity and enjoy it!

4. Host your own game show

Create a game show at home where everyone can get involved, and throw in some chocolate as the grand prize!

5. Have a water balloon fight

You are already going to be getting wet outside, may as well go all the way! Maybe try this one in the bathroom….

6. Show your kids some of the music you listened to when you were young

If you have a record or CD player, let your kids choose out some records from your teenage days and educate them on the type of music you used to listen to. They might even become a new 80’s kid in the process!

7. Play in the rain!

Just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean that you cant enjoy the outdoors! Unless you are allergic to the water, chuck on you gum boots and go for an explore, look for worms crossing the road, play with the water in your drive way, grab a boogie board and zoom through puddles! The possibilities are endless!

  • Thanx for the great tips.
In summer it’s wonderful swimming in the pool in the rain, and usually the water in the pool is warmer, Don’t swim in a storm or if there is lightning though as water attacks lightning and you may well get struck and fried, very dangerous. . just a nice shower of rain is relaxing.
