  • This sounds exciting! $899 for Daydream island including flights. Most of us are not travelling as a couple so it would be interesting to see how special a family package deal would be

  • I’m not sure if I feel positive about supporting the German giant to plan and book a (budget) holiday, beside the fact that we’re not into this type of organised holidays.
Since our family lives overseas, our holiday budget is mostly used for travelling to Europe. We hope to go to Northern Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands and Swiss in December-January.

  • Great for those without commitments, but trickier for families with kids and school dates to be mindful of.

  • I’d be excited to see where they go with this. Aldi’s products are notoriously good value and usually a pretty reasonable price. That being said the prices listed above don’t include the flights and are at a per person rate too, which makes a big difference. It would be worth looking into to see if the deal is in fact a good one.

  • Wow some of these deals are not bad

  • I can see the value, but I’m not sure I’d want to plan a holiday quickly to snap up a short term offer. When I was younger and single, or even before I had kids, sure, no problem. But I feel the logistics of travel with kids kind of works against this.

    • I agree; holidays need to be planned with a designated budget for the travel to the destination, all accommodation costs. Other costs need to be factored in too; including food, sightseeing and all other travel related costs. I like time to plan and enjoy each stage of a holiday. Good planning is a good way to have a good holiday!

      • I have to agree with this mum, before i had kids it was easy to just look and book a trip as i didn’t have anyone else to worry about but now that i have a family it takes a lot more planning and organisation as the trip needs to be somewhere that is suitable for both kids and the adults to ensure everyone gets enjoyment out of the holiday.

  • They’re getting into everything.

  • We’re not into these types of organised get aways / trips / holidays. We deceide together where we would like to go, how we are travelling looking at best options and deals and where we would like to stay, again looking to best options and deals, planning ahead car rental when needed.

  • I have never heard of this travel company and would of course need to do due diligence and research it before booking any travel. I do like to do thorough research and book my own travel and trips because it is such fun to find exciting new places to visit and get great deals.

  • Just saw this! People are always on the lookout for a good deal so this might be a popular thing

  • Sounds like a good idea. I don’t expect that it will be like staying at the Ritz but Aldi’s special buys are usually of good value so I like to see how people go with these offers.

  • Some of those sound like very good deals. However, I’m always a bit wary of booking holidays through intermediaries – you hear so many horror stories about how hard it is to get help when something goes wrong. Admittedly Aldi is a fairly trusted brand, but it’s still something that would make me hesitate.

  • This is a fantastic idea considering the current cost of living. Many families have been unable to afford a getaway and hopefully this will make it possible for them. I can see that they not only do accommodation and flights but also activity packs which is awesome! Thank you Aldi! :)

  • This is really interesting! If they can provide great consultant assistance then it could be good. There needs to be more competition to go against the absolute giant travel agency in the business. The flights are where people need to be savvy, it can be hard finding a good deal (the we see when Qantas messes up and sells far too cheap they just refund and take it away!)

  • This will be a lot more variety to the travel market to compare pricing. I have not travelled much since pre COVID so i am not sure if these prices are cheap or on par with other offers available but it is nice to know there is another option to consider when looking to book travel.
