An American couple has been trolled for the names they’ve chosen for their triplet boys – in particular one that’s a nod to an Australian capital city.

Influencers Rachel and Jordan Flom shared a video revealing the triplet’s names, and it attracted thousands of comments from followers.

The pair, from Nashville Tennessee, already have a two-year-old daughter, Emerson, and found out they are expecting triplet boys early next year. In the video clip, the pair revealed each of the boys’ names, and explained the meaning behind them. The names they’ve chosen are Locklan James, Wilder Scott and Brisbane Leigh.

“We have named the triplets, three boys in case you didn’t know,” Joran explained. “Locklan means from the lands of lakes. I’m from Minnesota.

“Baby B’s name is Wilder Scott. Wilder we just really loved, but then we found out that his family grew up in Wilder, Minnesota.

“The name of Baby C is Brisbane Leigh. We might say Bris for short. Leigh is my middle name, and I lived in Brisbane, Australia for six months. It just meant a lot to me and I jokingly said the name Brisbane once. I don’t think it is a name, but we’re making it one.

“The meaning of Brisbane … we looked it up after we locked in the name, and the meaning of Brisbane is ‘breaking of bones’. Which means he might be a sports player.”

The name reveal attracted hundreds of comments, including:

“Americans name their kids such weird names.”

“WTF these poor kids.”

“They will never find pens with their names on them haha.”

“Some people just shouldn’t name children. These are human beings who will have to spend their entire lives with these names, they aren’t pets who will never care or understand the origin of a name they respond to for treats.”

  • Trolls really need to get a life. As long as the names aren’t offensive, who cares.

  • Maybe it’s just me but I like the names and especially the meanings behind them. There are a lot of kids names out there and I mean way out there. Congratulations to them on the upcoming birth of your boys.

  • If they like it that’s okay. Doesn’t bother me. But congratulations to triplets. I got twins. Can’t imagine having triplets.

  • People should stop these negativities. Give constructive feedback, and stop the nasty comments. ????

  • I’ve heard much, much worse.

  • I don’t think it’s that weird at all.

  • Trolls are just after making negative comments about anything

  • There are worse names than these! I love these names

  • I actually was strolling through Facebook after a read this article and saw the post they made of revealing the names. I love the banners

  • I think they are all very cute and suiting names. People just need to zip their lips if they don’t have anything nice to say

  • There are much worse names out there! Brisbane would have been named after someone anyway. No different to calling your daughter Sydney or Adelaide or Paris or Memphis….

  • Well he could have named the child Cellblock or Hospital or Dunny maybe Outback or what ever name he could find to make the child’s life hard

  • People call their kids Sydney and Victoria so I dont really see the difference.

  • Different list of name combos here. They’re not too outrageous and have meaning to the parents, so who cares. It’s so sad some people always have to be on the attack

  • I’ve seen much worse names than that! They’ve chosen names that have significance to them for goodness sake!

    • I agree; they have chosen names with meaning and that are special for them.
