ANNE Hathaway wants to remind mums there is “no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy” — or ever.

The 33-year-old posted a photo to Instagram with this touching message.

“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever),” she wrote.

“There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).

“There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs.

Bodies change.

Bodies grow.

Bodies shrink.

It’s all love. (Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace xx”

The actress and her husband Adam Shulman welcomed a baby boy named Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman in March.

  • Good to hear some common sense from a celebrity. Will be hard to take any notice when it’s you who’s struggling with excess weight.

  • It’s difficult if that baby weight means your favourite garment doesn’t fit so well anymore.

  • You have to eat a healthly balanced diet and possibly control your meal sizes. If you are breastfeeding you have to take that into consideration. Many Mums are as concerned as much or more about the shape of their bodies and blame it on weight. Your baby has stretched your stomach so you can’t expect miracles. Many Mums struggle more after their 2nd baby. Their stomachs have been stretched twice so naturally it could take considerably longer to lose the stretched shape. Even supervised diets and exercise will not always allow you to get back to your original shape.

  • Great message from Anne. We should all love our bodies and take care of them.
